Free car parking because they will carry a blue sticker
    will get benefits
Only pay half towards a new car and they will change it every 3 years

Any one fancy a big mac fries and coke

Think i've heard it all now.

I'm hoping that is not true and that the rules that are in place remain with regard to PIP (Personal Independence Payment (Replacement for Disability Living Allowance)).
Firstly - eligibility to apply does not mean they will definitely get it.
You're only eligible to get a motabililty car if you get the mobility element of PIP and you only get that if you cannot walk further than 20M unaided.
I am hopeful that this will mean many fat people will not get this mobility supplement - Motability is already struggling with the volume of actual, real disabled people they need to help.
A blue badge should only provided to people who are unable to walk further than 50m unaided.

I seriously hope that this does not dilute the available money for people with actual disabilities.....

      Further info
Obesity can constitute a disability if the health effects have an impact on people's working lives, the European Court of Justice rules.

I think the emphasis in the ruling is that it COULD be a disbaility.
I also think the media will have loads of fun with it, spouting all sorts of crap just to get people going and give the population another group target for their collective ire.

The main issue will be for workplaces, who will now have to bend over backwards to accommodate large people. Small businesses are already struggling with everything they have to do to accommodate members of staff.

Stuff lije this just plain annoys me. This is the reason I often don't bother reading the news or post my opinions in 'political' threads

This is for people that are so obese that they literally are disabled. Now while I see that it is a self inflicted disability I also don't see how someone with these issues can be left with no help. Compulsive eating is a mental illness just like drug addiction. If I hadn't had help with my illness Id be a goner now in all likelihood. Fat people aren't going to be classed as disabled, it's just a way to make it possible for doctors to include them in the care system in extreme cases.

It's a bloody joke if you ask me, even a women on the radio this morning said i must admit i'm slightly over weight
but if a brand new car is going to cost me hardly anything and i'll be on benefits think i'd eat more fatty foods it's disgusting
if you ask me these were her words.
Wife works at the local hospital and every morning when i drop her off and pick her up we see this over weight women in a mobility scooter
according to my wife she can walk quicker than her so why the scooter.

Even an owner of a garden centre said he won't employ anyone that is slightly over weight
reason he gave was it will be hard to get rid of them if they can't bend down and lift objects.
He makes a good point in my opinion the way the law stands or the way it will stand in 2015

I think thats a pretty narrow minded view.

While I agree Tommy, there is a destinct possibility that in some circumstances people will be classified as disabled for a condition which is changeable.

A disability in the traditional sense is a permanent and unrectifiable affliction. And on that basis this ruling is a slap in the face of the people I would consider and have historically been considered disabled.

The government say how obese people are on the rise (pardon the pun), yet they come out with these laws that make life for obese people easier... Not all cases of obese people are a case of different mental state or abnormal genetics...

Apparently, I have a higher BMI than 97% of men in my age group.
I wonder how many of them have completed Half Iron Man races, 100 mile bike rides, 2.4 mile sea swims in a hurricane, etc etc...

BMI is an outdated indicator of obesity, that is merely general.

Just being overweight does not make you inept / stupid / incapable.
Attitude can be a 'disability' far more than anything else....

Interestingly, for some people who are obese, there is a disability present - but it is a mental disability, for which the obesity is merely a symptom.....
However, just saying that someone is disabled on the basis they are fat is horseshit.

                              Ooh! Ooh!
                              Someone mentioned blue badges.....

WTF is up with cockmongrels parking in blue badge bays when they DON'T HAVE A BLUE BADGE?????

Fuck off, park somewhere else and WALK the extra 100 yards.
IMHO there should be a sign up by blue badge bays - If you do not have a blue badge and park here anyway, you agree to your vehicle being disabled.
We could then create jobs, by having tyre wardens, who are permitted to wander round letting all four tyres down of the offending vehicles.
Much cheaper than clamping. Much more likely than clamping.

                              This is also good....
