  • Coffee machines - what have you got?

For the last two years, we've had a Dolce Gusto Piccolo. Which now seems to be dying.
So the question is - what would you recommend?
I generally only drink black coffee, but wifey likes skinny this'n'that.....

Any model but don't waste money buying one with an Aeroccino attached unless you drink a lot of cappuccinos. I think most people agree that they have the best coffee in their cartridges, George Clooney certainly does. It doesn't make hot chocolate or tea though.

Agreed. Great coffee. But a pain if you don't live near a shop that sells them. You have to buy online with a min of 100 capsules. You can get 3rd party capsules from sainsbury's but they aren't as good.

                  Just looking at the nespresso.....
Looks like they mainly do black coffee (which would be awesome for me!) but there'd be no fancy coffees for the Mrs....?

It's just an espresso machine. You can buy a milk heater/frothier to make the fancy coffees.

Pj- I think I had the recent offer of free delivery for 100 in my head.

You have to make the fancy coffees yourself, its an espresso machine and espresso is the basis of all the fancy coffees. Just bung the milk in the microwave for a cafe con leche or latte. Buy the model with the Aeroccino if she wants cappuccinos.

I have always used a stove top espresso maker, in 2 sizes depending if I got company. I use 2 sizes of cafetire or French press. I prefer to grind beans fresh & the grind is an important part of the process.

I also have a Nespresso magimix model but that's not even half as good as the real thing done well. Plus it costs 15 times more than a grinder and espresso maker!

buy a stove top espresso maker, grinder and a half pound of good beans and you won't look back

                            I agree.

I have the nespresso frother, great for cappuchinos.
However, not hot enough for me, so I warm milk up in a pan and add, making it a latte. Beautiful.

Loads of nespresso capsules to choose from: black coffee, caramel flavour, vanilla etc. even do decaf caps too.

Agreed [emoji6] I love mine, great range of coffee too!

But when I have time I grind my own and use a french press and its a bit special [emoji2]
