  • Flimsy Phones?

Well I'm due an upgrade and I'm sick of flimsy phones that are all tech and no class.

During my search I came across this and I love it, I can't find a price which suggests it's way too much for me and I'm unlikely to find it on an upgrade. But for the kind of people that like Caran d'Ache lighters and John Lobb shoes then this will fit the bill I think.

Meet the Bellperre phone, fully customisable on order from a few hundred choices of leather and plenty of metals. It even has pretty modern tech inside.

Aren't they just Symbian S60 based phones in a pretty case? Unless they've majorly upped their game in the past couple of years they seem in the same arena as the like of Vertu who were churning out tarted up Nokias a while ago?

I have to admit flimsy phones do wind me up, my Nexus 5 is amazing but is on it's second screen and currently the only thing holding it together is the plastic case I've put it in. Without the case it'd just fall apart.

Normally my phones last for at least a year outside of their contract term but this one will be absolutely hanging by it's 2nd birthday.

EDIT: I must type slowly, took over eight minutes to write that.

Back on Marc's point, that was the reason I haven't upgraded my iPhone 5 to a 6, the shape of the 5 gives me a lot more confidence in its durability. It has already survived several drops without issue.

I think I just found my holy grail. It's called the Gresso Regal.... It's proper contemporary tech but I'm not willing or able to pay ?3k for a phone even if it is crafted from a piece of Titanium and limited to 999 pieces.

Much more realistic now and importantly no upgrade cost.

HTC One M8 - Aluminium Unibody construction and top spec.
Sony Xperia Z range - Toughened glass construction, fully water and dust proof, top spec and stupidly good camera for a phone.

Any opinions and use experiences with these guys?

              Edit:

My heart says HTC for the asthetics and feel.... But my head says Sony for the rugged go anywhere factor.

I have the HTC One M7 and absolutely love it. Prior to that I had the HTC One X and loved that too. I'm very impressed with this brand and would have no worries about recommending them. My mate has the M8 and swears by it. When they drop in price I'll be updating to the M8.....

The M8 feels the classiest I have found yet for a mainstream phone. Almost bespoke build quality to my hands and eyes. It's a beautiful bit of kit that's for sure.

Very. I know someone who works there. Apparently you can have them made to any spec. Not so long ago, some bloke paid ?1,000,000 for two diamond encrusted Vertu phones.

HTC one and the m8 best phones out there by a country mile , fairly robust had a HTC one for 19 months not a blemish on it , hardly ever use my laptop now . Remember I'm a builder take it to work keep it in its case , it's been dropped a fair few times and still no cracks on the screen or scratches . Same as any high end product you have to look after it , but it's far better than an I phone and android wins hands down
