  • Cigars and the wind

Sat down to smoke a cohiba robusto last night. The islay malt was out, headphones on with some phat toons, everything was setup for a great smoke.

Then the wind picks up as I start on the co ro, each puff it feels like the flavour is nearly there and it'll burst out at any minute but alas right down to the end it was an underwhelming smoke.
I was constantly battling to get that smell on puffing and exhaling because the wind was just blowing all the smoke away.

The best cigars i've ever had have been in blazing sunshine with little to no wind. Does it really affect a smoke that much or am I imagining it?

    Blazing Sunshine indeed!

Last night as I was pondering over a roly cigar(cheep smoke) I thought the same exact thing. When at the ocean and temps are way hot this stoogie taste so much more complex. But now U brought this up I realize its not just me .
Cigar Seconds - Puros Indios Roly Cigars
When a Rolando Reyes Sr. inspects his Puros Indios, Cuba Aliados and Reyes Family cigars, any imperfect cigars are pulled aside, classified as seconds and get packaged as Roly cigars.

The imperfections are usually very slight, such as a veiny or discolored wrapper. Most of the time the imperfections are so slight that only a trained eye would notice.

Since no cigar factory intentionally produces seconds, the supply on some sizes is limited.

Have A great Weekend see U all Monday. Cheers !!!

Hey, for a mixed filler, $2 (USD) bundle cigar, it's not a bad smoke at all.

I think your right Las the wind can very much spoil the enjoyment of the cigar. I love smoking outside no matter whether its sunny or cloudy, however if its blowing a strong wind I will not go and smoke outside.

Have you noticed that even withthe slightest breeze the cigar will burn incorrectly, ie one side burning quicker than the other? I always put the biggest none burnt side to the wind it sometimes evens the burn!! in reality you are forever turning the cigar.

Having said all that I love an outdoor smoke.

I also like semi smoking outside in Robustos Leather clad, Smoking Shack in deepest darkest Kent, LMFAO.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

Yup, Paul. My shack is a godsend.

I've just spent 90 minutes just outside my ' black leather' shack. Gloriously sunny here, and my shack-outside bit is protected from the wind and breeze.

If the wind really whips up, I go inside to my World Of Leather and keep the door open.

I love smoking in there on my cold black sofa with the door open in rain and thunder.

If I'm away from the shack, I don't light up in the wind. It all feels a bit prat!

Damn right. Smoking in the sun is obviously fantastic. If there's more than a wisp of breeze then you're going to be enjoing the sun far more than the cigar- it just burns hotter.

IMHO if I had a cigar I really wanted to taste then I would have to smoke it inside.

i have to agree a few years ago i lit up while on the beach, and smoking it was a challenge. the wind was wreaking havoc like crazy.and it did not burn well. the smoke was a rj short churchill. moral of the story, do not smoke on windy days.

                Pet hate

One of my pet hates is attempting to enjoy your smoke when there is a wind blowing.

I have attempted it in the past and it`s a complete waste of time IMO.

In my somewhat limited experience I have never found that cigars give me wind.

Now Bass ale is another story all together.
