Just bought a used Dunhill / Hardcastle special deluxe bent Bulldog estate pipe.

I would like to smoke it but I am not quite sure as to what the procedure is when it comes to used pipes?

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

I have not yet received the pipe so I have took this picture from the net.

      Pipe Down!

It's a beauty, chico lovegod. I've a Peterson just like it.

There's plenty stuff on the google and youtubes on how to restore estate pipes. Below is just one example:

      Hope this helps!

        Cool

If it's not heavily tainted or in need of reaming, a damn good clean will do it wonders. Pipe cleaners can be moistened with a spirit such as whisky to aid cleaning down the stem etc. It's a case of how do you want go sometimes.

With estates I've picked up, I tend to concentrate on two keys areas (which are probably obvious actually) How does it look and how does it taste. If you're concerned about either, do some work on it

From the picture it looks in good condition.
Scrape the bowl out with a pipe tool to build up your own cake. Run a pipe cleaner through. Buff the bowl with a soft cloth.
If the stem is oxidised then you'll need to clean it with something like oxyclean then buff it with some tripoli compound. If you want some tips pm me.

Almost impossible due to two reasons:
                      1. Dry alcohol is hard to make.
                      2. Non-denatured ethanol is considered (legally) a beverage and is taxed as such. This is why denatured alcohol exists - it is exempt from weird taxation.
96% pure alcohol would be so eyewateringly expensive, there would be no market for it.

If you want alcohol just go into boots and get some surgical spirit, thats what the yanks call rubbing alcohol and varies from 70% to high 90's depending on what brand.

Rubbing is isopropyl alcohol. Not safe for consumption but does the same thing for cheaper.
                            Fine for cleaning your pipes.
