  • Havana for kids

Starting to tentatively look at where we may want to go in 2016 (planning ahead). It's me, the missus and my (will be by the time we go away) 10 year old step daughter.

Obviously, I want to go back to Havana, the missus loves the look of the place too, but is it all a bit "too old" for a 9/10 year old. For the life of me I cannot remember if there is anything for kids to do there. Would hate to spend all that money only for the poor girl to be bored out of her brain!

Will we have to rethink, or is there hope?

They have a beach don't they? Get her a snorkel and goggles.... Keep her entertained for days!

How about a week in Varadero ?
      1 day trip to Havana
1 day on the catamaran to Cayo Blanco ( beach barbecue )
      visit the dolphinarium
      1/2 day jet ski trip
      pony and trap ride
visit the local markets , trinkets jewellery etc
couple of days on the beach if the step daughter likes to sunbathe

ermm , bit stuck now , and dont forget v limited internet access for her

do-able for a week id say but 2 weeks maybe pushing it

the food could be a problem also for a 10 year old

some other BOTL may have some more ideas

      hope you get there

I take my kids all over the place bit have never been on a "kids " holiday and was never taken on one as a kid myself,
I'd of thought a ten year old taken to Havana Cuba for a holiday would absolutely love it

+1 for Varadero & Havana. Either do Havana as a day trip, or an overnight with Tropicana?
When we were there last year, our guide took us to Plaza Vieja, one of the old squares. This one had a state of a girl riding a large cockerel , I'm not sure what the meaning of this was??
                Located in the square was a microbrewery ( for dad ) & an authentic Cuban Chocolatier ( Mum & step-daughter ) - everyone's happy!!

I took my kids two years ago when they were 14, 12 and 10.
We did three days in Havana (including somehow getting them around a cigar factory) then a hire car out to Vinales for two days and a very long drive to Varedero for a week on the beach, Finally back to Havana for a night at the Nacional.

It was great and they would all go back tomorrow.

It's not easy to do unless you know how to do it.

PM me and I will put you in touch with the right people there

Hope the Americans haven't spoiled it by 2016 :-)

Thank you all for your suggestions and help. I'm thinking varadero and havana may well be a winner. April is when they launch the 2016 season so will have to price up then. Will probably do a night or two in Havana just to give them the idea of what Havana is all about.

Mid December flights from Toronto. 800 round trip price for 7 days. That's CAD!!

Thats when I do my normal flight routine .

I believe Paris has flight deals every year to Cuba. Only lasts for 3 weeks and happens some time in May.

Thanks gents, I'm looking into all options. My missus has friends who work for a travel operator who do varadero trips, may even get an additional discount!

Gotta get house purchase and wedding out the way first, but once thats all settled down its Cuba planning all the way!!

That's because its the end of the hurricane season and the beginning of their season proper.
