  • BIG Cuban Cigars - Your Recommendations, please!

Still three months before I go to Cuba, and I'm thinking hard about which 200 cigars to buy out there.

I'm a Robusto man, but have smoked a few BLOCKBUSTERS over the last three months and have enjoyed them all.

I'm beginning to think it would be absurd NOT to buy a box of BIG cigars when out there, so am seeking advice about which Cuban cigar, or cigars, to go for.

I won't list the big ones I've smoked. I'd like to see what you say.

All I'll say is that I like cigars to smack me up quickly, rather than to tickle me 45 minutes in.

(And I like the show-off factor of a MONSTER now and again).

If you have time, folks, could you suggest your ONE favourite BIG smoke - and say WHY it's your favourite?

    Many thanks.

    Bryan

    Punch Churchill this end Bryan.
Why? Because it's the only 'bigger' smoke I've had to date. Had one earlier this year and from memory, it was enjoyable. Not overly strong, or spicy though, so it may not fit you bill.

I've an Esplendidos sitting in the love nest, but saving it as I only bought one whilst away in Jan.

I'm sure you'll get some feedback on this thread mate.

      1. MC Sublime
      2. Lusitania
      3. Hoyo DC
      4. RA Gigantes
      5. Cuaba Diademas (9" long and 57RG at its widest IIRC)
      6. MC 'A'

The last two are incredible posers cigars so I'm sure you'll love 'em Big Boy

I've smoked loads of most and they're all excellent cigars....but if I had to pick one I'd have to say...MC Sublime..or RA Gigantes

          decisions decisions!

Difficult question Robusto. If forced into choosing then I would probably go for the Partagas Lusis or Salomones,MC Sublime or Siglo VI, and as Stevieboy already suggested the RA Gigante.

            Gentlemen

I've had wonderful smokes with a number of the biggies you have mentioned above, which are - in no particlar order:

            • Cohiba Esplendidos
            • Montecristo Sublime
            • Partagas Lusitanias
            • Cohiba Siglo VI
            • La Gloria Cubana - a Cuban one, and a monster

I'm very tempted by all the others, but probably most by the Ramon Allones Gigante because I adore anything RA.

Do Juan Lopez make any monsters? And Bolivar?
I know I could look that up but thought men into monsters might know!

I intend to make MONSTERS my everyday smokes of choice when on the island.

British modesty - and prices - can come later.

Get the RA Bry - you won't be disappointed

The biggest JL in regular production is the #1, a gorda, and it's every bit as good as the #2.
They also produce a Swiss only Maximos. I've got a box and a half and I can honestly say they're one of the best smokes I've ever had

JL are also bringing out a UK only MONSTER this year: a doble robustos 52RG and nearly 7" long. I imagine they'll be about ?18 per stick and I for one cannot f'ing wait

                        Come on then, men.

When do you smoke a monster?

For me, it will have to be a special occasion, or when I have a whole day off.

I do love them now and again, but they take so fucking long to smoke!

                            The big one!

Agree with CJ on that one.I don`t think there is a specific time when to smoke one.

It is nice to have something ready for that special ocassion, but in general it is if the mood takes me.

I agree with CJ and Whisk Bryan...suit yourself but obviously don't spark up a Party Salomones in your 15 minute tea-break
