  • Proxies

We get the odd request for proxying.
Two reasons you may want to:

    a) UKCF is blocked at work - you can use a proxy to get around it.
    b) You want to watch BBC iPlayer or similar, which is UK only - you can use a UK based proxy to get around it.

Proxies basically route your traffic through another computer based somewhere else making it look like you're originating from somewhere else.

And (usually) you only need to do this by changing some settings in your browser. For instance, for IE, Microsoft states doing this:

For proxies keep an eye out on these sites (but you can google for 'UK proxies' too):

Welcome to proxy-list.co.uk, your best go-to-guide when it comes to free / open online proxies available in United Kingdom!

proxysite.co.uk is available for purchase. Get in touch to discuss the possibilities!

Strong note: I would not surf for anything private (i.e. banking or your email) while doing this, incase they steal your information which is entirely possible, though it's generally safe on the major proxy sites.

A MUCH easier way is to use a web proxy which means you don't have to alter any browser settings. This is a site that allows you to type in a site and it will auto proxy it for you.

    E.g.

This has several. Give it a go.

I hosted a web proxy many moons ago for a US forum I frequent. I haven't updated it to a newer version but if anyone wants to use it it's here

Cheers Mr O. I'll try it at work tomorrow. I've tried to use a few proxies in the past week or two but they get knocked back as they belong to "Proxy Avoidance Category" or some-such...wish me luck

Glad to be of service I'd honestly forgotten I had it installed until I saw this thread and it reminded me. I may look to updating it as the script is a few years old but then again, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
