Sorry for the brain fart in advance.
And yes, I have used the search function.

Despite my current malaise, it seems I am substituting pipe acquisition for the moment.
I have three at the moment - a tiny chinese cob, a MM cob and a briar estate pipe.
I also have another couple on the way - a WO Larsen estate pipe from the 70's from Denmark and a custom pipe made for me by Jon Abbot.

    And yet.....

    I'm still looking at pipes.
    Lusting after them, in fact.

The internet is a little frustrating when it comes to pipes - there's such a range available - but the two closest retailers (with internet businesses) don't have anywhere near the same stock and charge more in the shop.
I've found a few pipes I like the look of, but that's all it is - liking the look - I have no idea how they feel or how they smoke.

So here are a few I like:

How did you choose the pipes you have?
    Where did you buy them?

Am I right in thinking you just collect these pipes and don't actually smoke them?

      Nope - they're for smoking.
Had a bowl of dunhill early morning yesterday.
My smoking mojo is around somewhere......

I thought you were dead against pipes, is smoking them a new thing for you?
I had a bowl of Dunhill Nightcap last night

I was - very much. My first experience with them was chronic. Made me ill.
Then I tried again with the same pipe. Truly awful.
Tried a little cob immediately after and it was like heaven!
Then bought a mm cob and a few samples and went from there....

I get a lot from eBay and just wing it after a bit of research on the maker. I don't spend too much though. Other than that I have tended to buy from B&Ma's or from recommendation.

If i was to choose from the 5 pipes you put up it would be

                1
                3
                5

I like the falcon pipes myself got 3
                plus another 3 briars
the reason i like the falcon pipes is they smoke cooler because of the metal stem .

lol I know what you mean, now have 3 pipes myself
a estate briar, a new briar and a cob.

so far the best smoking pipe is the estate, its big aged and smokes well, just got the cob today with some mac baren cube silver and its wonderful

enjoy your collection, ill be looking to get more myself also.. just be careful of the Chinese pipes on ebay, the quality is massively variable

Late in, but I've gathered mine from a variety of sources: ebay estates, new cheapies from B&Ms, more expensive from same and a new Peterson P lip Rhodesian (or maybe a bulldog, I'll have to have a peek) was gifted to me for my 50th by a good friend.
