  • Cigar in a pipe

A split cigar and some cut caps I have been keeping in a Kilner Jar plus a grinder I got from the indoor market

First attempt made really small pieces as I over ground it. The second attempt was just one turn and is still sitting in the grinder

2 junior corona sized cigars makes a hell of a lot of tobacco

First of all tried a small bowl of just cigar. Was pleasant enough but nothing special and certainly doesn't compare to smoking an actual cigar, or pipe tobacco for that matter.

Second tried a half and half mixture with pipe tobacco. Once again was pleasant enough but nothing special. Was hoping for a best of both worlds situation but didn't get it. A bowl of just pipe tobacco tastes better. The only plus point was my pipe burned better, fewer relights that sort of thing.

Unfortunately the only pipe tobacco I had in any quantity was Dunhill Nightcap which has a very distinct fairly strong taste. Not the best choice for this experiment know.

Would it be better with a milder pipe tobacco?
Would just the cut caps ground and mixed in so it is mostly pipe tobacco be better?
Would it being left so it has time to blend work better?

Experiments for another day as I am going to have a bowl of just pipe tobacco before bed

Do you want any more split/unfinished cigars if I get them? I sent that split Du Gourmet to a guy on another forum to do this with and didn't even get a thank you.

Can if you want bud. I dropped that one down the side of the sofa prior to lighting and couldn't find it till morning so it had been out the humidor and maybe didn't have much flavour due to that. So a fresh one may work better.

Burley is the mixers friend, it will allow the other tobscco's flavour to dominate while adding body and a good burning ability to a blend. I think it could be exactly what your after in this instance! . Pure Burley is what I would mix it with.
