  • Favourite Lonsdales?

I've only had a couple of Lonsdales (a Fonseca no. 1 and a Hoyo Epicure No. 1 last night) and I've really enjoyed them both. Does anyone have a favourite or any they'd particularly recommend?

I'm definitely going to try some more. Similar amount of tobacco to a robusto but a very different character.

    Thoughts welcome.

Olls, I think it is may be a Corona Gorda, but no big deal mate.

I am a great fan of the Epicure No2, but have also smoked a fair few No1.
The Corona Gorda is one of my favourite Vitolas.

Upmann Magnum 46, punch Punch and the Siglo IV are all worth investigation.Never tried the Fonseca No1, I believe they are a really light smoke.

The majority of guys tend to go for the Robustos, but I still like the Gorda.

My mistake; you're absolutely right. (Although the Fonseca is a Lonsdale and is quite light.)

In that case - Corona Gordas or Lonsdales.

Actually I've had a Punch Punch before and really enjoyed that too. Thanks for the suggestions.

Had a dozen or so Hdm 1's, but much prefer the 2's (obviously not a Lonsdale though)

          Hi Olls

For me the best Lonsdales are:

          1. Montecristo No.1
          2. Rafael Gonzalez Lonsdale (Aged)
          3. Sancho Panza Molinos
          4. Partagas Lonsdale
          5. Trinidad Ingenios LE07 (Good now, great potential)

          ...and for the Corona Gordas:

          1. Punch Punch
          2. H.Upmann Magnum 46
          3. Partagas Serie D No.3 LE01
          4. Cohiba Siglo IV
          5. Hoyo Epicure No.1

Hope this helps when you come to make your next purchase...

          Cheers, HabanoSy

Both of these sizes are pretty consistenly good across the marcas, so it really depends on your tastes. Here are my top 4 Londales in order:

            Montecristo 1
            Rafael Gonzalez Lonsdale
            Cohiba Siglo V
            Bolivar Gold Medal

The JL no. 1 can be pretty special.

Smoked a Bolivar Gold Medal the other day.
It was a very powerful and satisfying cigar.
It's a Lonsdale - and the only Lonsdale I have smoked to date.

Struggling with the Lonsdale - can't think of one I'd really rate at the moment (unless you're going to be flexible with the definition !)

Corona Gorda : deffo the RyJ Exi3 - loving these when you get a good 'un

My favourite Lonsdale has to be the Rafael Gonzalez with a bit of age closely followed by the Partagas 898V.

A lot of nice Corona Gordas out there, with the Punch Punch, Epi#1, Magnum 46 and Siglo IV some of my favourites!

Try an aged Hoyo des Dieux. Oh my sainted aunt!

Cheers guys, there's some good suggestions there. Lonsdales do seem to be a bit out of fashion at the moment, which is a bit of a shame.

Especially fancy trying a des Dieux - it's one of those cigars that you don't hear discussed that often, but having looked it up it sounds awesome.

Ordered two boxes of these today from Heres hoping they live up to their name and be Gold Medal winning smokes...!?!

Lonsdales to try - Partagas and ERDM, with a little age these can be great smokes. ERDM can be like a concentrated CS and the Party is old school (discontinued now)

Corona Gorda - JL No.1, Exi.3 and probably the best one ever the Monte C...
