  • I finally did it!

Finally got around to gettin a humidor, and my first 'bulk order' of cigars thanks to the swiss sites. Nothing amazing but a batch of 25 Piedra brevas, 28 quid, cant go wrong really. This way I can be worryish-free during my first weeks of 'humidoring'

The humidor is a nice glasstop one that I got off ebay, apparently its ?70 RRP but I got it for 26 altogether (hes got a bathc of em), whether or not thats a good thing but it looks ok, the guy selling it answerd my emails quickly. Cant wait to get it! Although he did reccommend a digital hygrometer, ill get that a bit later.

Let the cigar collecting saga begin, i feel like ive just joined the elite club.

Looks a beauty. You never forget your first humi. Even if you've outgrown it in 6 months and given it away

Nice looking desktop mate! Don't rely on the gauge at the front though, all analouge ones are for show only! I'd suggest getting a digital one as soon as you can

are they a common thing? (find in a local electronics store) or are they really needed to be bought online ebay/ etc.

Whats a good price before I go blindly buying the first one i see on ebay .

edit : booom, is this ok for my needs?

I am still trying to decide on which one I'm going to go for!

Have fun setting it up, and let us know how you get on.

got one of those humi's myself, i'd reccommend getting a digital hygro though cos the analogue one is woeful. i found the digital one is about 3-4% out on the low side(digi is reading 20c and 70% so about 73-74% humidity actually) however the analogue one is reading 52%...it does have a good seal and the humidity is constant so thats a good thing.
I started out with nothing and i've still got most of it left - Seasick Steve

Lmao I got it today. Which is funny because I got an email from the mail also today saying it was dispatched, now thats some laser mail!

Came in nice packaging, brand new, lovely wood and inside wood. I LOVE that smell inside. Everything is in order, all I need now is my digital hygrometer and smokes ofc...

The instructions say this, should I go by this or do you guys have some better info :

                              1. Dont put cigars immidiately into the humi. First remove the wooden divider then place a flat container (does it mean tuppaware lunchbox or somethin, if so now much?) in the humi for a couple of days

                              2. Fill the humidifier with distilled water and place into the humi. you can now place cigars into the humi. the humidity should read about 70% on the hygrometer. in case the humiditiy goes down you may refil the humidifier with distileld water (does this mean the humidifier?)

3.Tis best to use distilled water available in pharmacies. Distilled water offerd in supermarkets is often only decalcified

                              4. depending on use, your humidifier should only need to be refilled every 2 or 3 months

                              also it says:

Drop 5 drops of water (1ml, pippet?) into the humidifirer, is that a good amount.

The humidifier came with a double sided sticky back plastic disc, but the stickyness is shit and doesnt stick on the wall of the humi. Is it ok to use stickback plastic or glue or something? Whats the do's and donts of sticking? something re-attachable if i need to refil the humidifier.

                              Cant wait to get storing!
