  • Cellophane on or off?

Just seeking views on denuding cigars for the humidor. Do you take out of tubes? Do you take out of cellophane or leave the cellophane on? What is your policy and, more importantly, why?

As for me I am really unsure on what to do for the best. Unwrapping exposes the cigar to accidental injury. However, you would have to rummage pretty roughly to do damage. Denuding the cigar lets it breathe and begin to "humidify" to your chosen level.

    But views?

Looks like the UKCF second generation has arrived!!! Take cover, mates!!!

As senor IV says, I bet if you do a quick search in the archives you will find a ton of info on this topic.

But to cut to the chase, it's make little, if any, difference what you do with the cello - on or off. It comes down to personal preference, really.

Names TJ, TJ fuckin' Coro, and this is probably the all-time most asked newbie question.

I think that crazy cat that has that big book out on Cigars says that if they are in a tube or in cello that they age better.

Seeing that I have no patience to age my stogies, and I like seeing my beauts in the nude, I prefer all off. I'd like to leave something to the imagination. But hey, I'm just not that innocent.

For me, I keep all the tubed cigars in their tubes, but cigars with cellophane I take that off. However, I do keep all my Cubans in one humidor and all the other regions in another.

            But thats just me...!!!

I guess if your going to mix it up in there, ie CC and NC, best to keep the wrappers on to save marrying blends and flavours: but whoTF waits that long!

HabS's approach to segregation is the way forward when your stock gets 'up there'

Deja vu anyone...I take the cello off and unscrew the cap on the tube to let the stogie breath when in the humidor.

I take the cellophane off. Cellophane is great in the cigar shop where people will handle cigars that they might not buy, but in my humidor I'd rather the cigars be fully exposed to the humidity. I don't store cigars long enough for the flavors to marry. If had Cubans, I'd keep them in a separate humidor.
