Got these reject pipes from Etsy, they came with flaws both in the machining and the briar, I thought they would be a good starting point to making my own pipe.

I was attempting a rusticated finish,

Turned out more like blast after staining

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment as you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it!

Bloody great idea. I'd love to have a go at some rustication. This might be the way forward.

These were around ?35 for the four of them, so even if I mess up I won't be out of pocket too much, plus they're fun to do

Done a very good job of that pipe paulie, if I were you I would do them all the same finish but different stain.

They sure are, but I'm after a poker/cherrywood really. I'll keep an eye out.

Got this one from eBay too, ?25 from Alexander-zavvos in Greece. It's not perfect as there's a bit of a chunk out of the bottom. By the time I shape it, it shouldn't be too bad, it'll still be visible though

Hopefully you'll be able to work around it. I've had his store saved for a while and often pop in to have a peek.

I'll see how it goes, I'm going to do the others first and get some much needed practice in

I hope that the others go just as well. Let us know how well they smoke.

Second project pipe done, there was a bit of a chunk on one side, so I rusticated that side. The other side had some nice grain so just left it smooth
