  • What's the difference?

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between:

    1) Bolivar Bellicosos Finos and Bellicosos Finos SLB? What is the "SLB"?

    2) What is the difference between a "varnished" and "unvarnished" cigar? Surely, it literally ain't what I think "varnish" is?

SLB is a Slide Lid Box/cabinet where the smokes are tied up in a bundle. There should be no difference with the cigars apart from the fact that the cigars in the dress-box might be box-pressed ie a bit square. Cabinets of 50 come in SLBs too eg Juan Lopez #2

I think SLB is for the cabinet. I read somewhere what SLB stands for but have forgotten. I know this isn't much help but I'm going to look into it some more.

I should have said about varnished...that applies to the box of course . The only thing that springs to mind that came in both was/is Partagas 898 in varnished and un-varnished. I think the unvarnished is now discontinued!?!? Also, the two versions of 898 weren't the same size IIRC

I should have said that there is a motive for my questions. The site sponsor is about to get an order!

If you get the choice, go for the SLB especially if there's a few years age on them

Bought a SLB of Belicoso Fino when I graduated uni as a reward for all my hard work.

Never looked back, those things are awesome and I save them for when I have somthing to celebrate. With only 2 left I think I will use them to celebrate the next time I stock my humi and the cycle begins again

Noodle, I noticed earlier you were smoking the JL pet Coronas (one of my favs) and now you also like the Belicosos Finos, of which I am again a fan.
I have a 2007 SLB box resting in the humi as these are a favourite of mine, although not on a daily basis.

I think we may have been seperated at birth.

                        Lol

Yeah the belicosos are very nice but I couldnt do them all the time.

I was bloody furious when after much begging I gave one to a mate who decided to simultaniously smoke it with a sucession of roll ups! What a waste!

The Juan Lopez I was smoking was one of a set of singles I got from selfridges on a recomendation. Very nice cigar and having done about three of them now I am seriously thinking about loading up my humi with a box but god knows how long they will last
