  • Recommend me a robusto, please.

Okay, I've decided to take advantage of CGars offer of free postage to order two or three singles.

I've decided that at least one of them should be a robusto. They seem very popular on here and seem to be in vogue generally. And here I am, ashamed to say, I've never had one...

    So, recommend away please.

Feel free to recommend anything, however, I'll mainly be looking at the medium bodied range of options - a really good case for a light or full bodied cigar will gain extra brownie points...

    JL #2 of course

Can't go wrong with a RASS either Simon.

It shows how much attention I've been paying that I haven't even registered that the JL #2 is a robusto. No more argument may be needed...

Any other suggestions? I could always pick up another robusto...

        Try a Hoyo Epicure No2...
Not the most consistent cigar, but the good one will make you lick your lips!!!

Difficult to find a bad robusto really - Epi#2 needs some age for me, other than that lots are smoking really well at the moment

This is quite difficult because IMO there are so many fine Robustos out there, and its my favourite size after the Corona Gorda. But, if it were me Simon I'd be ordering like this...

            1. Partagas Serie D No.4 - Full
            2. Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 - Medium
            3. Ramon Allones Specially Selected - Full
            4. Bolivar Royal Corona - Full
            5. Juan Lopez No.2 - Medium/Full
            6. Cohiba Robusto - Medium/Full
            7. Vegas Robaina Famoso - Medium/Full
            8. El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme - Light/Medium
            9. H.Upmann Connoisseur No.1 - Light/Medium
            10. San Cristonal La Fuerza - Medium

...and that doesn't even take into account the many fine LE Robustos that are out there, sorry mate don't feel as if I've been much help...!?!

            Cheers, HabanoSy

That's a good list there HabS, although you're not making it an easy decision for Simon now

Must add though the D4 is a mighty fine stick and rightly 'up there'

Habs... That's quite a list. Thanks.

Thanks all for the suggestions so far. Looking likely for a JL No2 and HdM Epicure No2.

Any thoughts on the Montecristo Petit Edmundo - I know its usually not classed as a robusto, but it seems to be mentioned frequently.

                    My four would be:

                    1) Partigas Series D 4
                    2) Ramon Allones Specially Selected
                    3) Juan Lopez #2
                    4) ... Cohiba Robusto if you want to go for something a little more pricey

I do like the HdM Petit Robusto, but if was trying to narrow it down to as few sticks as possible I'd go with these two:

                      Ramon Allones Specially Selected
                      Vegas Robaina Famosos.

If it had to be just one, it would be the Famosos. I just can't get that Swiss milk chocolate taste out of my mind. It really was very surprising, and dare I say it, exciting. So much so, I obtained a stick of each in the range after trying my first VR. That was a good idea.

There's one down in Kent you could try, I believe it's aged, full bodied and a popular choice with most of the other members here.

Failing that, ever thought about any Non Cubans such as

                        Padron 2000 maduro
                        Rocky Patel Old World Reserve
                        Rocky Patel Decade
Hoyo De Mont - Dark Summatra
                        R&J Habana Reserve

                            Just missed you Boss...

True, I was looking for a big cigar...

I did have a look at the Rocky Patels - they seem to be the in-thing Stateside, but CGars only sell them by the box load...

Just in the nick of time! I expect to see photos Tuesday unless you miss the postman.
Not sure about that Monte thing you've ordered but I'll be intrigued to hear about it. The rest on that list look utterly droolworthy. Enjoy.
