  • Aged cigars

Do many of you buy aged cigars ? I get a bit impatient trying to age my new stock and frustrated when the draw is not good and i have to relight too often . I shall get a new 300 + humi in order to rotate my smokes, but in the meantime the only solution is to go for the dearer aged cigars , apart from NC's which always seem to burn well but dont taste as good . Cheers

    Possible.

As long as you are dealing with a reputable supplier who you trust and who has supplied you previously with quality smokes, then it is always a bonus to get something with some age on it , if at all possible.

Sometimes it`s just a case of asking for something a couple of years older than normal.

I don't, not intentionally anyway. I'd like to experience the progression myself.

If you're experiencing tightness and burn problems, have you thought about slightly lowering the humidity you're storing them at, or leaving it out of the humi a few hours before you smoke it?

I used to think age = good.

Experience has taught me that it's not so simple. Many cigars (e.g. 2006) smoked beautifully straight out of the box & for some sticks it was difficult to see how ageing would help. However, for lots of others, a few years age smooths out the rough edges.

Had the pleasure of smoking some truly aged sticks, including a few 1950s RyJ Exi4s and many boxes of 1990s ERDM Demi Tasse.

Some 2008 sticks seem quite mild and I'd not be putting any away for a long time
