  • Hello from pdgray.uk

    Hello,

My name is Paul and I live in Hamble in Hampshire. I am surprised to find I am happily married, 41 years old, and have 2 children and a dog! I work in IT to keep the family financially viable, but find work interferes with my hobbies and interests including fly-fishing, shooting, sailing, Land Rovers, Ducati bikes and cigars.

I discovered this forum a few weeks ago on my quest to learn more about cigars which I have relatively recently started to enjoy more seriously. As an adult I have always enjoyed the very occasional cigar; perhaps 2 a year. However, while up in Scotland fishing last October I found myself increasingly appreciative of a good cigar. My interest has developed rapidly from there. I now look forward to weekends and a cigar or two in a relaxing spot.

I have a humidor of which I am extremely fond (but which I now realise is too small - should have joined/read the forum sooner) and have enjoyed accumulating the paraphernalia associated with cigars. I have purchased 5 boxes of cigars to date along with odds and sods. Some purchases were made online and some in London shops. I have just placed my first order with the forum sponsor and look forward to taking delivery of my new boxes (I have jumped on the D4 bandwagon). Thanks to Deano for his advice and other members for recommending this source of supply.

This forum is proving highly useful in developing my knowledge and more importantly my enjoyment of cigars. I look forward to contributing where appropriate when I have some knowledge. I value greatly the opportunity to 'soak up' the experiences and knowledge of the other members.

Finally, an observation; to date I have found the vast majority of cigar smokers, retailers, and of course forum members, all to be supportive, polite, considerate and willing to invest time and effort with newbies to introduce them to a pleasurable cigar experience. Thank you. This is in pleasant contrast to many sports and hobbies. I hope I can repay the favours I have received as my experience grows.

    Paul.

Welcome and hope you have an enjoyable time on the forum. I am in Surrey so if a meet is arranged sometime soon we may cross paths. Great list of interests you have there, I myself am into shooting and Land Rovers, owning a bright yellow Series III which is much loved and modified.

Hope you enjoy the D4's when you get them, one of my fav sticks ever.

Hi and welcome, I'm a fly fisherman too and get down to fish on a carrier stream at Romsey two or three times a year.

I always wanted a Land Rover so I know where to come for information when I finally take the plunge.

Nice forst post, hope you enjoy it here.
