  • Cigar Reccommendations...

OK - I have been smoking too many R&J Short Churchills lately - just finished off my last one. I don't keep many cigars in stock - but my supplies definitely need replenishing.

Cigars I've had so far are:
    - Montecristo No. 1
    - R&J No. 1
    - Cohiba Siglo VI
    - R&J Short Churchill
    - Don Ramos Churchill
and a Davidoff though I don't remember which one!!

Basically guys I'm after suggestions to broaden my horizons before I order some more! Answers on a postcard please

Are you looking for Cuban or Non Cuban?

Hmmm ok. Well I know more about NCs than CCs. So I'll list some NCs and let the more experienced CC guys handle those

Tatuaje Cabinet - Very good, quite full bodied
Padron '26 or '64 Maduro - Fantastic smokes
Fuente Opus X - Great cigars, can be alittle hard to find. Quite spicy
Fuente Anejo - Like the Opus, can be alittle hard to find, but worth it
Illusione - These are flavour bombs, especially the ~68~ Bombone

          Boli Belicosos Finos
          Hoyo Epicure 1 or 2
          SLR Serie A

All in the top rank and fairly affordable IMNSHO

I would second the Bolivar Belicosos and also the Hoyos - one of these two will almost certainly be my next box purchase (perhaps the petit robustos in case of the Hoyos).

That said, I'm getting to the point where I know I can't go wrong with almost any of the Cubans. As soon as I buy some there are more which I end up seeing or reading about that catch my eye. Maybe just take a gamble on whatever you can get a good deal on.

Matt, I know this has probably been covered several times before but where do you get your NCs from?

Why not look at some of the sampler packs available from various suppliers. They often put together good selections at reasonable prices. If you get in touch with them it has been known for them to let you swap a couple of sticks in the selection if you don't fancy a particular cigar.

                Preferences.

I would agree with Paulie, get yourself a half decent selection with different vitolas and strengths, then work your way through them and note your preferences.

You should also have on your short list

JL sel. 1 or 2 and PC
                  Punch punch or RS11
                  Partagas shorts
                  Mag 46

If you try a few Marevas, Minutos or similar from the main brands, if you like them you can then try the more expensive vitolas, most brands try to have a similar element to the taste profile through the range....
