  • The Dean

Tonight I'm drinking my first bottle of Plumpton sparkling wine (i.e. Champagne) called 'The Dean'.

Tomorrow we have another 6 bottles of it to get through for my 30th.

It's good stuff. Apparently the Sussex soil is very similar to that of the Champagne region. It's a couple of miles away from me, so I feel like I'm supporting the local economy by drinking it...

        Dean happy birthday for Sunday.

30 was a decade ago for me!

Anyway, I agree about the Sussex soil.....my personal sparkling favorite is:

Nyetimber are the leading producer of English sparkling wine selling online as well as to iconic international stockists, restaurants & bars.

Also, supposedly, the area in which the 'Champagne' process was developed (or was it Kent... either way). But the Church have always been good at spinning dubious yarns, and credit was given to that pesky monk Dom (never trust anyone called Dom - just look at that Littlewoods chap on TV, pretending he's on our side when he set up the world's worst mail order company... it's atrocious I tell you! ).

Enjoy the bubbly, and enjoy the birthday! I'm stuck in a car for hours from 4am tomorrow - I suspect you'll be able to celebrate slightly better than I...
