Have to agree with you on this one Pedro...

IMO Port is a great accompaniment to a fine Cigar, can't say as I've ever had Port Ellen though.

You'll have to let us know how it fares...!?!

        Cheers, HabanoSy

Habs... you do know it's a whisky, not a port.

It certainly is . I've got to be up at 4am for a long car journey up north for the start of a holiday (which doesn't actually start until Sunday - long story, won't go into it).

                    Why am I still here!!!???

Anyway... Not a huge whisky drinker myself, though I do like a drop, and am now back on the port (nasty incident put me off it for a while, don't ask). So, like Habs, the biggest giveaway was that I didn't recognize it as a port label. The clincher though was the word 'distillery' plastered across the cases in the picture... Last time I checked, port wasn't distilled.

                          Glorious stuff!!!!!

From Port Ellen on Islay, right on my doorstep.I have never tried this bottling or indeed at this age.

Did try a much younger bottling (16yo or 18yo i think).

From what I remember it was really glorious stuff and reminded me of Caol Ila, as it is not as abrasive as some of the other islay malts.

Great purchase mate, definately for a special event,I am really jealous.

is port ellen the one thats been discontinued or is that charlotte?

whichever one it was, SUBLIME whisky, definitely in top 5 along with ardbeg supernova, highland park 30 and laphroaig cairdeas

                            enjoy!

Port Ellen has been discontinued - mothballed distillery. But, I agree: a superb drop.
