  • Alec Bradley Robusto - A Review

This is a Honduran cigar sent to me gratis in an order from Monte. Thank you, Andy.

Conditions are important when enjoying cigars, and I deliberately smoked this on-the-go when loading in my garage today.

My initial impression, with no previous experience of this brand, is that this is a good medium-flavoured cigar. I prefer more complex and strong, punchy cigars, but this had a pleasant and consistent taste. It burned quite quickly compared to a Partagas or a Cohiba, so I imagine the tobacco is sparser. It burned very regularly, too. All the way to the end butt.

It did not heat up nor become bitter at all. It was literally a cool smoke.

I just enjoyed the smoky non-specific taste, but at the end (no bullshit) I was left with the taste of coffee and (weird) fruit. Probably strawberries.

My daily get-by cigar is a Villiger, and although the Alec Bradley is certainly mild compared to Villigers, it was more enjoyable because of its smooth burn, and because of its girth. (I presume a 50).

It didn't have the exciting lustre, nor the sponge-y squeeze, of a top notch cigar, but I could happily smoke this during a relaxed day.

And I love smoking at my lock-up garage. Somehow it's my manor, and this cigar complemented a lovely sunny morning in my garage superbly.
