  • Best of the year so far?

While smoking the MC Robusto EL 2006 this morning in the garden, I came to the conclusion that this was the best cigar I have smoked this year.

I had the box maturing in the humi for 18 months and I think I am reaping the benefits of keeping them this length of time.

They are a superb tasting cigar with spiciness, cedar and nuts all seeming to blend effortlessly together.Fantastic draw and aroma when lit, and this is without doubt the best MC I have smoked. I can only hope the MC Sublimes will reflect some of the flavours exhibited here in a couple of years.

I have been lucky enough to try a variety of Cuban smokes this year, this is the best so far IMO.

I was wondering what the BOTL would rate as their best smoke of 2009 to date?

i've not tried much out the norm this year but i'd say my favorite so far is the Cohiba Magico Maduro 5. From Light up to finish it is amazing...

So far, my favourite is a toss up between the Vegas Robaina Famosos and the JL No2.

That may not be the final result though, as I still haven't given one of my LGC Gloriosos a run out yet. They look mighty fine, and if the taste half as good as they look we'll have a new champion!

another close second for me would be the Monte Sublime I had on the first Cigar walk, me and Robusto both sparked one up in JJfox an it was bliss...

That is sooooo good to hear, senor booze.

The only Monty EL 06 I've smoked was at a LCdH in Mexico in the fall of 2006. I thought it was a pretty fine smoke then, but the resident aficionado mentioned that these should age well and be excellent puros with a few years in the humi. So I bought a box on the spot, which has be resting untouched in my humi ever since. Still holding on, however....hard to pop the cherry on a full box of super fine puros.

For me, the best puro I have smoked this year is the one I smoked today - the Cohiba Sublime EL '04.

I am not going to claim it was the best smoke of the year as I have several things still calling my name but for a "reasonably" priced smoke the Duke just amazed me. I seriously need to find a supply of these.

Not had the good fortune to have smoked off any ELs or 'special' sticks, but the JL2s and D4s (not for some months now, but an 07 from Belgium was nice) this year have been well received. Staples in the stable (or should be)

this year I had the pleasure of meeting the Partagas D4 and, more recently, the sublime Ramon Allones Gigantes - a Doble Corona I would heartily recommend.

                              Excellent question!

That's a toughy. As I've only been smoking decent cigars this year, you're effectively asking what my best ever is!

It would be between the RASS, the HdM PR, and last night's JL2.

On balance it should go to the RASS as I've had quite a few of them.
