  • Cohiba Siglo I

Hey guys, i find it very difficult during the week to find time to enjoy a larger cigar and had a couple of questions about the Siglo I.

Would these age and mature like the larger versions, im not sure if smaller cigars have the capacity to age in the humidor like their older brothers.

As these are pretty well priced, should i go for a few cabinets of 25 to age them, or should i go for the 5x5 tube versions.

Im still buying larger cigars, my favourite are 50 to 54 gauge robustos , and will age and enjoy them when time permits.

Also any of you guys who have smoked them, how long a smoke are they?

    Thanks in advance

    hello leedub,
i have the same problem as you, i don't have the time during the week to smoke bigger cigars (i also like my robustos and coronas)! to get me by, i've been buying smaller sizes in singles, like the cohiba siglo I & secretos, monte no. 5 etc! i find that these last around 40minutes, suitable when i come off shift and want a quick smoke before i go to bed!

since i'm pretty new to smoking cigars, i can't answer your question about aging them, but i can't imagine it being a problem!

one other thing, are you dead set on cohibas? i find them over rated! you can get cheaper perlas that are as good (if not better) than the siglo I! montecristo no. 5, partagas shorts, romeo y julieta petite princess, cuaba traditionale, trinidad reyes...........the list goes on!

    hope this helps,

    alex

      I agree....

Siglo I is a great little smoke, also the exquisitos imo (although that's a bit pricier), monte 5 is one of my favorite "cheapo" havanas!

I reckon they will age just fine, though the complexity won't be as developed as a larger vitola.

I've just finished at the gym (totally irrelevent comment, but thought you should all know that I'm buff, and have to fight off the ladies ).

After another twenty minutes or so online I am going to treat myself to a cigar (I need to make space in my humi), I shall pick my Siglo I and report back tomorrow with a review (including length of smoke).

Without wishing to prejudice your decision before you make it (or I have added anything useful to the discussion), but have you considered the San Cristobal El Principe (which I have been very pleased with whenever I have smoked); perhaps the ERdM Lunch Club; or, another stick that I've been pleasantly surprised by, the Punch Petit Punch. All more-or-less the same size (give or take a fraction of an inch).

senor robusto says that Cohibas are over-rated. I'm not sure I'd exactly go along with that (well, perhaps a little), every Cohiba I've smoked has been wonderful. They are, however, definitely overpriced...

              good evening simonjgriffithshr,
sorry, my mistake...... what i really meant was 'overpriced'! somehow i typed in 'over rated', i mean, how can a cohiba be over rated? lol! if i could afford them, i'd have them all the time! i always hesitate before i buy cohibas, simply because i know i can rely on, say, partagas or montecristo to deliver the goods! plus i like having variety in my humidor (it only holds 75, so buying cabinets of 25 is a waste for me, until i get my next humidor! roll on xmas! lol)!

personally, i'd choose the partagas short or trinidad reyes over the siglo I! but really, i'd really rather have the cohiba maduro secretos! my all time favourite small cigar! yum!

              all the best,

              alex

Yes I've looked at the secretos and am thinking of getting hold of some. I will look
At all your suggestions and make a small list. Technically I need to wait until xmas for
My new humi, but its so hard waiting

Age Your Puros, Big and Small!

Muchacho, I have yet to come across a fine Habanos that didn't improve significantly with age, including the smaller puros like the Siglo I. Over the years I have smoked many Siglo Is - some with less than a year (not recommended) and others with two or more years (highly recommended).

Other small puros that can be enjoyed in 30 to 40 minutes are the HdM Principe, Cohiba Secreto, the Boliver Bonitas, and the Tinidad Reyes. All very nice puros with one or more years on 'em.

Names TJ, TJCoro, and I always keep the smaller puros in my humi for late nite smokes.

I would absolutely recommend the Siglo I, and the SCB Principe, or the Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos - received a box of these on Saturday and tried one last night (the first time); they are so good i would recommend them to anyone! A review of the Secretos: http://www.cigarbunch.com/2008/09/12...cretos-review/

Also, if you're looking for short smokes and not sure what ones are out there, take a look at the 'Cigar Advisor' section of Cigarone, just to get an idea, as you can search based upon approx smoke time - http://www.cigarone.com/cuban-cigars...your-cigar.php

                          Hope that helps....
