  • Ash Fetishism?

Does anyone else find themselves absolutely fascinated with how long they can hold the ash on a cigar? The satisfaction in a perfectly formed ash, perfectly consistant colour and density etc is amazing.

Is there any real point where it is advisable to say "enough is enough", and drop the ash? I've noticed a couple of times that it has gotten so dense that it affects the combustion of the cigar and so have had to lose the ash, then persuade it to relight with a quick flame.

What sticks have produced the best ashes for you? Strange question, but hey.

I mention this stick a fair amount, because its currently what I have most of, but the Oliva Series O Toro is awesome. Every one I have had has had the most perfect burn and construction. I love how low maintenance it is.

Plug a picture of my awesome hand in here too haha...

    The Big Ass Ash!

Dude! I'm an ass man myself!

Oh! You said "ash!" Lo Seinto!

TJ's Rule # 69: "Don't play architech with the ash. When it starts showing cracks, tap 'er off."

While smoking outside, I let the ash fall off naturally. And I often violate TJ's Rule and play "architect" by seeing how long it will get before it drops away under the force of gravity.

But that's just me, TJ, TJCoro, and me birds always like to see how long I can make me ash

Haha, I'll note that down in my journals

KingCohiba, I'm in a similar situation to you much of the time in that I am travelling and don't want to risk the ash. But on the times i get to settle I like to stick with it and see what happens. Not any more though, not now I know TJ's Rule 69 Also, I'm definately looking forward to trying more Oliva cigars. I really do love the Series O for many reasons.

The thing in my hand is called a Subdermal Implant Body modification is a major hobby of mine. Think tattoos and piercings, but a little bit further For that implant, a incision was cut in the side of my hand, most of the flesh on top of the hand was elevated from the underlying tissue, then the silicone implant was installed, before suturing up the entry incision. All of this without any form of numbing or anaesthetic lol

I'll get my secretary on to it :P Though I'm not that tough really

KingCohiba, I cant really answer that question myself, as I haven't been to a cigar shop. Would really love to though. There's certainly nowhere near as many over here as you see in America. Closest I've ever come is a few tobacconists who stock a few cubans in small display humidors. Theres loads of guys on here who could tell you what they're like though

In response to the "bet it hurt"....yeah, it was very intense haha. A unique experience that I'm glad I had.

Fug the ash debate, that's some mod you have going on there Monkey

Respect. And further, respect for the diversity that smoking fine puros brings to the community. A nice 'coming out' shot of your passion Monkey

I'm with you on this one, i like the big ash and atually get annoyed if i see my mates flick the ash off, got to educate the feckers methinks.

Monkey you have'nt got the old prince albert have you, everytime i think of it my eyes water. To me thats one place nowt should be sticking out of. Not too bother about the fairer sex having anything done to the cats face, it would be like having an activity centre to play with.

OMFG, the only implants I'm having are via my mouth - Food, alcohol and Cuban cigar smoke !

Has anyone mistaken it for a case of ringworm ?

ashing most cigars renews the taste for me. i dont know if its because you get more wrapper taste after ashing but the cigar always tastes better for a moment after i ash it. for that reason i dont let the ash grow more than an inch.

                            nice hand
you could qualify as another race on star trek with that get up!
