Ok so last night i bought my first decent sized cigar from the local tesco lmao, ?3.41 :P

Ive smoked the small fag sized cigars before but nothing substantial and all i can say is i fell in love, the smell, the taste and the general feel of smoking a cigar.

Im a regular smoker aswell so something to be that good is kinda a slap in the face, why havent i been smoking these all this time?!? I was angry with myself lol

So today il be heading back to get a better selection to taste throughout the week and then il hunt down a nice tobbaconist in cardiff perhaps.

About me. Im 20, currently live in tre-forest just outside cardiff, south wales, im at uni so on a limited budget but enjoy the finer things, a glass of scotch and a nice smoke to relax to.

My question to yall is, what cigar would you reccomend for a newbie on a limited budget. Ideally i'd like to spend ?3-7/8 per cigar to smoke regularly and something a little fancier in the region of ?15-30 for 'every-so-often'.

Not the best budget i know but its all i can spare.

Secondly do you know any good tobbaconists in the cardiff area that you would reccomend or do you prefer to buy online??

Lastly, how important is a humidifier? Considering i wont be storing large amounts at a time and what i will have wont really be that valuable, would you still reccomend one? If so what make/model would you reccomend?

Thankyou for your time and input!

    Don.

Thanks for the info Il check that shop out later in the week sometime.

I just slipped to the shop to see what they have and picked up three small packets, henri wintermans pantellas, grossformat export and some panama pantellas, total of 16 cigars for only ?14, well within my budget lol

Ive smoked one of the grossformats and it was very strange, it was almost perfectly square with no curved end but very tasty indeed.

No idea what sort of selection that is but its all they had XD

      Don.

P.s. If the cheapies taste this good im looking forward to a quality sampling

            Welcome Don,

Regarding the humidor, if you plan to have a stash of cigars, then i recommend you get one, there are other ways to store them for the short term IE tupperwear...

PS. have you tried the caf? cremes?...they get mentioned alot on this forum

Welcome to the forums. Lots of great people here with great help and advice.

One thing is that what you are buying is all machine made while the much MUCH better cigars are all hand made.

Either take a look at the various online sites which you can find lots of info about here, or pop along to the shop in Cardiff and ask the staff in there for help explaining you are new to cigars. They will be able to help you pick a few to start with.

Humidor wise you could get yourself a travel one which is smaller and often much cheaper than a desktop one. Have a look on a certain internet auction site as there are often humidors there at good prices.

Load of great info, thanks guys!

I think the next step is to really go to the shop and get the lay of the land.

                  Don.

P.s. I just woke up 4 of my housemates with the fire alarm, seems the cigar smoke was thicker than i expected rofl.

welcome to the forum Don, if you are looking for some cheap cubans i'm sure some of your uni mates will travel abroad, so just drop em some wonger and ask them to bring some back. Golf mate just been to Egypt and in the duty free picked up some Jose L Piedra brevas 5 pack for ?6, not a bad starter cuban cigar. Or look at our sponsor COH, remember though when getting stuff online you run the customs gaunlet, however COH don't have a minimum order.

Another way of getting fine cigars is to hang about the forum .get involved, get to know us all and look at the for sale section. Theres always someone having a credit card crisis and needing the cash or humi space.

                            Hi Don

Welcome to the forums, you've chosen the right place to be...

A E Lloyds (The Bear Shop) is in the Wyndham Arcade, Cardiff...

Been there many, many times. They have a fantastic array of cigars and all reasonably priced to, although you will struggle to find the RE's and Ltd Ed's as they don't appear to stock these...

Hope this helps and looking forward to your posts...

                            Cheers, HabanoSy
