View Full Version : Stick a Stick in round 4!

Pantomimehorse
11-11-2009, 12:38 AM
Another go at this lads?

The idea is you will be given another forum members name at random who you will send a stick or two to in the hope of trying something new.

We only have one rule and that is that at least one of the cigars you send must be Cuban ( US forum users exempt from this rule)

Closing date for getting involved will be the end of November

Those taking part are :

Pantohorse
Kingcohiba
Kdot
CJ121
Habanosy
GSS1956
Celsis
Monkey66
Rockitsci
BigT
Snooky
The Rodster

G,

No, I never really know what to expect but surely that is part of life's rich tapestry, etc. I just said I did so I did not look utterly clueless.

I never got the house rebuilt, it was buried well and truly. I know these Polish guys that are cheap to hire but I rather like the magnificent desolation.

Looks like I rejoined the fray just in time again.

I do like handing work to the striking unions. We might just be keeping Royal Mail afloat - all the real business has deserted. Just waiting for the unions (any union, not just RM) to realise that driving a company into the ground is usually a poor tactic for job retention...

Oops, just made my entry into 'stick a stick in' a little political. I shall go and think deeply about my actions, I do apologise. :sorry:

Pantomimehorse

That's a shit Chris, sorry to hear about it.

I guess sending sticks, 'to be signed for' can minimise any loss. Anything more than one/two, I use that option.

I do like handing work to the striking unions. We might just be keeping
the Royal Mail afloat ! That shit is so true. Here the unions at Caterpillar called a strike (and it was their last strike) to only find their members looking for new jobs!!!!! Over paid under worked and now some after many years of screwing their company with no jobs. The company closed a multi million dollar plant and rebuilt it else where so not to give into the demands of the pirates!
Will the unions ever learn ?

the Royal Mail has screwed me over a few times these last few months, all cigar related too!

anyway does that little rant mean you want in Si? :pYes please. Though I've now changed my mind about propping up Royal Mail. All future packages will be sent via DHL - Royal Mail have screwed me over a number of times in the last couple of months as well. I've sent letters that have taken weeks to arrive, but the worst is Special Delivery...

Twice in the last month I've needed something to be sent from the family home that needed to arrive the next day. So, I paid my parents to send it Special Delivery. Both times I've had a 'we called while you were out' card, for a time when I was most certainly in... Then I had to wait until the next day to collect it (in Gloucester you can usually collect it during the afternoon of the day of the attempted delivery, but in Plymouth you have to wait a minimum of 24 hours). So, having paid extra to ensure I had it the next day, I ensured that I didn't. I then had the choice of paying a small fortune to get the bus to the out of town depot, or pay Royal Mail even more money to have it delivered to my local post office (working on the assumption that they might not deliver it properly if I asked for a redelivery). Anyway, I complained the first time and got the usual 'brush off' response. The second time I complained when I collected the package, only to be told: "Oh, they usually won't deliver at apartment blocks." Me: "All he has to do is call my flat, I don't expect them to come up..." Lackey: "It takes too long sir..."

So... she essentially admitted that Royal Mail sells Special Delivery fraudulently. There is no mention of this 'not for flats' on the website, or indeed when you go through the motion at the post office (when they can clearly see you're sending it to a flat...). So, they are quite happy to have your extra cash off you safe in the knowledge that they have no intention of completing the service. The irony is, for half the price I could have just had the stuff sent first class, it would have arrived the next day and been left in the lobby where I could have collected it that day.

I shall no longer be providing ongoing support for this organization and its workshy staff (probably too busy planning their next strike to actually spend twenty seconds waiting for me to go and sign for a parcel...)

NB. (Bit of context, just to show that I'm not just some union bashing Thatcherite): My hatred of aggressive unions (moderate unions are a good thing), stems from my grandfathers - both of which were shop stewards and union representatives. One worked for a small company and he enjoyed great respect and support from his co-workers and bosses as a good and reasonable negotiator. The company did very well. The other one worked for Rover (I presume it was British Leyland or something back then); he was one of very few stewards who were completely against the acutely aggressive tactics of his union - he believed that the demands that were constantly asked for were unreasonable and the tactics ineffective. He knew it would cripple the company. It did, and eventually, albeit after a couple of decades of dreadful perfomance (and resultant job losses), the company collapsed.

Anyhow, I got home and there it was: a black sphere, about third football size, taped all over and soft to the touch. I cut the bugger open carefully to reveal three air pocket protected sticks from KDot:

An impressive RyJ Duke LE 09; a distinguished Trinidad Ingenios EL 07 and a Rocking Rocky Patel Legends Orange label. Never tried any of them before and with the weather as it is, probably never will:p
