  • will this work for cigars?

    Hi Everyone,

I was over at a friends house yesterday and they were smoking the green... I forgot that they used a glo-rod for this. They do this to get rid of the butane taste. Will this work for cigars as well?

Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

Also, some people also use a soldering iron instead of the glo-rod to light their greens... due to the same butane taste reason...

    what do you guys think?

Let it glow, let it glow, let it glow!

    Hmmmm?

Never thought of using a "glow rod", but I prefer to use me own gas to spark me puros!

BTW, was the the Mexican Regional Edition the lad was lighting in the video?

Yo! It's Ray Jay, Ray Jay Coro, and I'm still lovin' the avatar, senor tupperware!

        Fascinating,
Not sure I would want to break up a stick to put it in a bong though? unless it was going to get me right smashed of my tits.

You could just stick your stick on your halogen hob, like a giant car cigar lighter. Make sure there's no gravy there first.

I was under the belief that butane has a clean burn- imparting no taste-hence why it is used to light cigars as opposed to petrol lighters etc?

Yeah butane is odourless and tasteless, but they generally put odorants in so you can 'smell gas' in the event of a leak. The problem being when it doesn't all get burnt. Also, the stuff you buy for your fag lighter isn't particularly clean, which is why you can buy the 'Near Zero Impurities' stuff from specialist tobacconists. Also, that stuff leaves less gunge when it evaporates or soot when it burns, keeping your lighter cleaner.

I'd speculate that using gas lighters with a bong prevents the flame burning properly as it's being sucked into the bowl, so the impurities or odorants won't get burnt off, thus tainting the taste of whatever you're smoking in your bong. 'Cos bongs are all about the taste.

I like to use this bad boy occasionally. Adjustable from soft flame to full torch.
