Thought I'd just mention that it's the 100th birthday today of....Wind in the Willows! First published October 8th, 1908.

Can always picture Ratty with a cigar in his mouth.

And of course, there are all the creatures living in the Wildwood.... (cue spooky music)...

A very mixed up, weird sort of book...but I've always loved it (maybe that's why)!

Yep, finished the book pretty much in one sitting...not much more to say about it really...couldn't truly recommend it.

You never said whether you'd read that Maupassant story "The scent of Lemon Verbena" (or similar - no idea what it is in French)...if not, I'll dig out the details, 'coz I feel that you would really enjoy it!

Eh mate,read the book at school and seen the film on telly loads of times,blimmin brilliant stuff mate.Its one of those things that you wanna see and read all the time,anouther favourite books and films was Kes and the railway children,just brings back the kind of childhood that i had.Brilliant.

Ditto mate,i do like to read now and again but i just seem so knackerd when i come home from work,i love the old stuff,it just takes you there when your either reading or watching.

Love the Railway Children, but very embarrassing 'coz I just blub at the end every time...how sad is that? And in front of the kids!!

Another blub moment is the last five minutes of Disney's Beauty and the Beast...although I'm not keen on Disney, I just can't watch this one without tears rolling down my cheeks. What a softy!!
