  • Humi Rotation / aging

I have 2 desktop humis which are pretty my full up at the minute. One of them I use to age. the other for everyday smokes.

with regards to the aging humi, I have 4 layers of cigars laying in there. Should I be rotating these around every so often or should the fact that it is kept at 70/70 within the box good enough.

I would rotate them every few months. It certainly couldn't hurt.

Cigars are for smoking, set 'em on fire

i like the way this guy thinks! id do it one at a time though. been wondering about this question myself though. id have to agree that it sounds like a good idea to rotate em though.

Being layered, I'd personally plump for a bit of rotation Mark, just to keep things fair for those ickle sticks stuck near the bottom, bless them. As these move progressively towards smoking stock, some quarter turns during the process would be beneficial too. However, I'm sure more experienced afficianados would think "humbug" and it's not needed.

i think you should as part of the hobby. Tending your stock etc all adds to the experience imho.

If you have them in your humidor then you should rotate them every few weeks... However, for proper aging, i would suggest storing them in their box and forgeting them (providing you have a humidor / cabinet to fit full boxes), handling them as less as possible.

                Rotation.

I normally rotate the cigars in my desktop humi once a month, this helps ensure that all of the cigars are getting equal amounts of time spent on the top layer.

Eventually you should be able to take a cigar from the top of the row, or the bottom of the row, and they should be equally conditioned.
