  • Cuban cigar 3-/5-packs age?

Does anyone know if there is any way to find out the year of production of Cubans sold in 3- or 5- pack cardboard boxes?

I suppose maybe the barcode mught be a hint, but not sure how to read that.

    Cheers!

Try this link to the barcode verification system that Habanos provide. It may yield something useful?

If anyone gets a result, keep us posted.

Edit: I don't think a barcode willl tell the age of the cigars tbh

          Hi CJ,

the barcode identification on the Habanos website seems to work only for boxes from '09 in my experience. I tried using it on barcodes I have on two '07 boxes which I am confdent are authentic, plus a number of 3-packs and none is recognized from the Habanos system.

          Nice idea though

I bought a couple of small packs recently and they were overprinted on the back with their date codes.

            EG:-
3 x Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robustos (GTA-MAY.06)
            5 x Partag?s Petit Coronas Especiales (GEA-JUN.07)
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

              LE selection

The only smaller packs (5) which have the date stamped on that I have had were the LE Robusto and Torpedo selection.

Funny you should say that Alberto as I tried punching in some RyJ Churchill and they came back unrecognised. They are the real deal though.

Just for fun I tried putting in all the 3/5 boxes bar codes codes I have: 3 bought in Zurich by an authorized dealer (RJ Shorth Curchill, Epi 2 and HdM Petit Robusto) and 1 (Piedra Nacionales) bought at the Amsterdam Airport. None of these was recognized either .

Finally I took the box from the Scandinavian RE I bought in Stockholm from Brobergs (authorized Habanos dealer) ... but that has no barcode

They are sometimes .... but maybe that's just on older boxes. Something that's been given up on just prior to, or now that the small packs are barcoded.

Usually the individual 3 or 5 packs are not stamped but the bigger box they come in is.

So if its 5 packages of 3 cigars the package that held the 5 boxes is stamped on the top flap of the box.

Let me know if this makes sense if not I can take a couple of pictures.

I agree that they should be stamped on each individual box but I have gotten into the habit of checking the box code of the packing box when purchasing and then writing it on the package I buy.

This is spot on, you need to see the bigger (usually 5 packs in a box) packaging box for the date.
