Wondering if anyone has tried any Davidoff cigar?

Have been looking at these, literally, for years. They are touted as an elite, premier cigar but carry Opus X-like prices, thus making them unattractive to me. But the curiosity lingers. I've today run across an offering for a sampler of 9 Davidoff's at an almost bearable price and am tempted to finally taste of the forbidden fruit.

So, any of you BOTL's have any experience with this cigar?

I tried three while in the US. Found them extremely mild and somewhat tasteless. Not my cup of hemlock, I'm afraid....

Jimmeh and I have heard good things about "The Barrel", a huge cigar in the range. Selfridges, Harrods and JJ Fox have sold out. Davidoff themselves have them but at ?35 a stick I could not bring myself to purchase. For that you could have many great Cuban cigars. I want to try it and would suggest that you give it a go if you can find it at not crazy prizes.

I've had a couple of Davidoff's offerings over the past year and enjoyed both of them. They both had excellent construction and were quite pleasant. Good (though mild) flavours and quite light in strength.

Worth a try if they are at a reasonable price.

If the Marrakesh (sp?) given to us by Edward Sahakien on the first Cuban Cigar Walk in March was a Davidoff - and I really have forgotten - then it was, to my taste buds, an excellent cigar which I will definitely smoke again.

Saw this review the other day - looks good!

I know I know, it seems odd The Great Torpedo/Don “Cruz”ado would be reviewing a cigar made by Davidoff. Its historically not my speed and a brand that I’ve shied away from. Partly because of the hefty price tag but more out of my own ignorance of assuming that the cigar wasn’t meant for me […]

Just thought to add - the two that I've had have both been very smooth as well.

I've got a third sitting in the humi at the moment, the 'Special "R"'. Will report back once it has been sampled...

Smoked the 2000, Special 'R', Double 'R' and Grand Cru No.3...

IMO all nice mild, medium bodied smokes, but nothing that says WOW gotta have another one of these...

That said, wouldn't mind trying the Millenium blend series...

                  Cheers, HabanoSy

Have to agree with Sy on this one.I have tried a few of the different Davidoff vitolas through the years , and there is nothing in their range with the "wow" factor that i have come accross so far.
Don`t get me wrong they are well presented and the construction is normally very good, but for the money, I would choose a few cigars before i would opt for them.

Current Davidoff cigars are made in the DR.

Tried some of Davidoff's brands: Davidoff, Avo, Winston Churchill.

They are usually beautifully constructed, have a rather mild flavor profile and quite enjoyable. However, the price tag is not that attractive.
