  • Helix Corona Tubos

Well here goes my first review

I have just finished a Helix Corona Tubos

    CIGAR: Helix Tubo
    SIZE: 5" X 50
    ORIGIN: Honduros
    WRAPPER: Connecticut Shade
    BINDER: Mexican
    FILLER: Dom, Nic, Braz,
    SHAPE: Corona (Tubo)
    BURN: Perfect.
ASH: Pure white solid ash. Was 1 1/2 inches before I broke it.
SMOKE: Good volume of leafy walnuty smoke
STRENGTH: Mild getting a bit stronger at the end.
FLAVOUR: Hay, grass, Walnut, Autumn Leaves

Appearance 5 out of 5 ( Well made, with a silky oily wrapper

Aroma 3 out of 5 (nice aroma, mild & slightly nutty)

Burn 20 out of 20 (burnt evenly, without relights)

Taste 55 out of 70 ( a good taste for a beginner or those who prefer a mild smoke, so looses a few marks for its mildness)

    Total 83

As a Novice I really enjoyed this stick it was a perfect mild smoke for a sunny Autumn morning. Good construction that gave me 45 minutes of downtime. I thought a good price @ ?6.24 from my local Tesco. i may review the other 3 premium cigars they stock. If i got given another i would have to leave it in the humidor to age a bit

I've noticed the blue tube on the Tesco tobacconists' shelves before but haven't tried it. I might now.

I usually pick up a Montecristo from Tesco if I'm out and about. In Waitrose, the tobacconist section is usually less busy, so they will hand over the hand-made rack for you to have a good look through.

I've picked up the odd Romeo y Juieta from Tesco that has been completely dried out. Weird from a tubo. You feel conned!

Nice review. I'm going to look around for that stick to try one myself.

Oooh i will keep my eye for the Romeo Y Julieta was my very first cigar a friend bought 3 back from cuba for me for ?10. my local Tesco dont do them,

price wise the Don Tomas is ?5.24 the Helix ?6.24 The Montechristo and the Macanudo were around the ?8.50 mark. a tad expensive but good when ya supply is dwindling and you are out and about.

Bought a Helix cigar for ?4 from my local asda the other day and it wasn't half bad. It was in the larger 50g tube but was a petit corona (to my disappointment!).

I too was surprised, particularly at how well humidified it was. The tube has cedar wrapper, a cork seal and a damp sponge inside. Very impressed.
