  • A slight concern

I opened my humi tonight, and noticed a few of my cigars wrappers were starting to lift and peel. This is only happening on my non cubans, and only a few of them, but enough to cause concern. My hygrometers are reading 68 per cent, but I've noticed that the packs of minis I put in on tuesday are very damp indeed

    Any suggestions guys or explantions?

    Cheers

    Lee

hmm a problem indeed, only solution i can come up with is, to lash em all out to your BOTL before any more damage is done. Hope this helps

have you taken the mini's out of their packs? If not maybe the carboard packs are holding moisture to. maybe place the susceptible NC'S furthest away from the beads. 68 % seems ok so not sure why you are getting overly damp gars, if the latent temp is lower leave the door of your humi open a few hours see if you can regulate your humidity within the dor.

      Double check.

Lee, not sure about this one mate.I would be inclined to double check all your readings as it sounds as though your humidity level could be substantially higher than you think, if your minis appear to be damp.

Lee i would leave the minis out of the humi a couple of days, and make sure the humi isnt to full, if the latter is the case just pm me. best o luck.

Thanks guys, I've salt tested the hygros, maybe I need to do it again. Does excess humidity cause wrappers to peel?

          Thanks again

Over humidification can cause wrapper issues Lee and generally you would see a splitting, often starting at the foot as the wrapper swells. Of course, depending on the contruction of the cigar, splitting/swelling or peeling may occur anywhere.

Can you get a picture or two of the affected cigars up?

Sounds as if you've taken the cello off your mini packs Lee, and the card if holding moisture. Best take them out I think!

I have noticed that the NC wrappers on a couple of the cigars I have had do not like too much humidity.

To quantify that last statement; I should state that my humidor is normally of a slightly higher humidity than noramal.

I think this the excuse I need to buy a second 7 drawer for my nc's, though I was hoping to buy a cabinet instead sometime next year.
