  • Cigar of The Year

    Gentlefolk,

Its come to that time of year where all the "best of" and "top 10" crap hits the idiot box. Being guilty to watching and enjoying these types of shows, I believe we should do something similar on this here forum.

Lets take a vote for the UKCF cigar of 2009.

My thoughts are we should nominate our single most favorite cigar cuban or non cuban on a thread like this for a week or two, take the 4 most popular and have a vote to see which comes out tops.

    What do you think?
Lover of fine Cubans since 2006

    Decisions?

    Excellent idea Kdot.

It`s been a few months since i smoked the MC Sublime, but that must surely be a contender this year.

NC is a more difficult choice for me, as I do not have a lot of experience with them at all, but the Rocky Patel cigars I have been gifted by BOTL have been first class.

Sublime would be mine, but as it's been out a couple of years, maybe the Duke - considering how good it is and it being a 2009 LE et al.

        The Duke.

Seriously need to try those Dukes at some point in the not so distant future.

Yeah, I feel the same. After being disappointed by the Open series, I need to try the Dukes.

I don't get to smoke as many as I would like and have had some lovely smokes this year. I would have to say though that the Partagas Serie P2 is both a cracking smoke and always reliable in quality and burn. So it gets my vote.

The Duke is good, i had my first the other night, very tasty especially with a glass of Havana Club 7yr old It has to be up there with the best IMHO.

I also thought the Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos was a flavour bomb but thats been out a while too..

                    The Open series is just...

Amazed Montecristo brought something so disappointing out.

Having said that I must humbly admit that the single most enjoyable cigar I had this year was a "lowly"... Monte 4.

Not to say this is my cigar of the year as I've had a few and all the rest were nice but not great. But that one single Monte 4 was a work of art, a complex perfectly balanced symphony of earth, cedar, spice and honey

I think I'd probably nominate the Duke as well, followed ever so closely by Hoyo de Monyerey Epi2 Limited Edition, Sublime and a la Gloria Cubana monster - a telegraph pole whose name I've forgotten - that was out of this world.

The P1 was just a sexual experience and in a league of its own.

                      OH... The JL2...

                      No.

I'll stick at the Duke as an affordable and tasty best of in 2009 for me.

I've not had the privilege of smoking a wide range of cigars like many fellow UKCFers, so I'm going to hang back a little on this one until the last lap of the year.
