  • Suggestions Welcome!

    Dear Forum members

I am getting married next June and was thinking of handing out cigars at the reception, so here lies my dilemma!!

What type of cigars to get???

Now, I am no tight arse but neither am I Rockefeller.
So I need something decent but not to expensive and will need about 50!?!?!

I was thinking of something that is tubed, as most of the guests will be pissed by the time they come to smoke them or they might want to just save them.

(If you are thinking ?why hand out cigars?? What better reason to go out side and enjoy a good stick and not be on my own!!! )

All suggestions are most welcome as I am really stuck?

My advice would be to get something good but not too good. My friend did the same thing at his wedding a couple of months ago and as the evening wore on he noticed no one was smoking the cigars he laid out. (He owns a cigar shop so he took the best of the best). So he went around and personally handed them out to people, which motivated the guests to spark up. The problem was, at the end of the night he found all of these beautiful cigars in the ashtrays with one or two hits taken off them.

Then my friend and I bought a box of 1926 Padrons for a friend's bachelor party. The same thing happened to us.

Just don't go overboard with getting the best of the best, you know?

Congratulations by the way. I'll be sending a wedding cigar to you Dale - does she smoke too?

My groom mate was sensible like that. He went round the tables with a box of Montecristos and invited people to join him outside the marquee if they wanted a Havana. About ten men did - and relished them. The rest he kept to take away, and I got half of one of the boxes!

Shrewd move, and no beauties sucked once and abandoned!

To be fair, I think I will be going for the Gold tubes mate which you suggested as I think they will go well with the day. PM a price for a box of 25 please?

Congrats on the upcoming wedding Dale

I think there's been quite a few good suggestions here so far, Monte's suggestion and also what Bryan had mentioned about having the box of cigars and offering all the guests to join you outside in smoking one of the stogies to celebrate, at least that way, any cigars that are left over, you can enjoy the rest of the box yourself in your own time
