  • Newbie greets, off to Cuba soon!

    /wave

    Hello all

Been lurking a fair few days, and thought it only appropriate to sign up and say allo. First off, what a great read - learning all the time!

UK based here, west midlands. Cold and snowy right now. Brrr.

My interest in cuban cigars has been fired massively by an upcoming holiday to Cuba in a few weeks. That, and my wife and I both enjoyed cheap cigars as students or later in life, after a few drinks whenever we could find them... what better way to take our taste forward and go for some REALLY good stuff?!

Week or two ago happened to partake of some Montecristo Edmundos to see if we really should max out our CC limit on return. Shouldnt even have been a question. Wow, what a flavour. Loved it all the way through.

About to order the humidoro 7 draw humi, and currently researching the best purchases to bring home. I'm reckoning something along the line of 25 x montecristo no 2, 25 x cohiba esplendido and then the rest in special/limited editions. Still open to ideas! The aim being to pick up some good stuff over there, and then add to the collection as time goes on from the various online vendors linked from here.

Hmm, could murder one right now. Must sort the garden cigar project to accompany the charcoal smoker, bbq area and general chill out section!

    Welcome buddy,
That chill out area sounds like the business mate. It would be a crime to return less than fully laden from Havana eh! Enjoy the forum and look forward to reading a post on your trip. Cheers for the New Year and Good smokin
    Keep it country.

              Welcome to the forum Gryph.

Just make sure you don't buy anything from unofficial sources, regardless of the blag you might get that the cigars are authentic

              Have a great trip

                      Hi and welcome, Gryph.
For your holiday, i would look out for some custom made cigars, for example from Reynaldo who offers his masterpieces in his La Casa del Habano in Havana.
For a fair price you can buy cigars which you can?t get here .
                      Regards, Ligero

Welcome, and as said previously, stick with the shops - I'd go for something smaller than an Esplendido if you're new - maybe the Monte Edmundo's or Cohiba Robusto's.

Welcome to the forum. Mate recently brought me back two 10 packs of singles frm Cuba, since i believe you are allowed 20 singles as part of your allowance without reciepts. each pack contained 2 RyJ's tube,HDM tube, Party tube, Uppman tube and 5 different Cohiba's.

Oh and you probably already know , DON'T buy any stogies off the streets as they will be fakes.
I started out with nothing and i've still got most of it left - Seasick Steve
