Last night I pulled out my two Cohibas that I had been aging for a year to smoke with my friend who just got married last weekend.
Both of us feel that 1926 Padron Maduro #6 is our favorite cigar. With that said, I thought it appropriate to note that his unofficial review of this cigar is that it is "the best cigar I've ever had." He added that unlike a Padron, which simply hits you with great taste, the Cohiba had more complexity to its taste, making it more enjoyable. We smoked our Cohibas with Johhnnie Walker Gold Label scotch. Here's another picture of the cigars followed by my review:
APPEARANCE: While my cigar had some damage to the foot of the cigar (due to my own fault), it was clearly a beautiful color with a velvety texture. The cigar looked so good that I almost didn't want to smoke it! 5 out of 5.
AROMA: This cigar had a sweet aroma to it that was very enjoyable. 5 out of 5.
BURN: The Cohibas both burned perfectly. All the way down to the last inch, where they both began to spoon just a little bit. We smoked these to the nub and burned our fingers so it was really only the last few hits that the cigar took this turn, which makes me wonder if it was the way we pinched the end of the cigar that caused one side to burn more heavily. However, it could have just been the way it was rolled. Either way I had to take a few points off the burn score. 18 out of 20
TASTE: The taste of this cigar was very complex. I noted a coffee bean taste at first that gave way to leather, and earthy tones, that turned sweet and even slightly chocolaty in the last third of the smoke. Overall a fantastic tasting cigar. 70 out of 70
TASTING SCORE : 98 out of 100
