  • Going to China

I will be going to China in a few months time, i'll mainly be in Beijing. Do any of you know some good cigar shops here to buy authentic cubans from? Also any good places to smoke? It will be a nice change to go somewhere that has no real indoor smoking bans!
Smoke em if you've got em

not sure on cigar shops but you can pretty much smoke everywhere! it's surreal to be able to light up at almost any restaurant after a meal =)

Hey Rollzst, I am from Beijing and well, every 3 cigarrates smoked on this planet 1 is smoked by a Chinese. It is always nice to be in China for smokers. Which part of Beijing will you be? If you'll be staying at western part of the city, La Casa del Habanos at Westin hotel on Jin Rong Jie (Finance Street) is always recommendable. If in the east, Nashville bar on Hao Yun Jie is a nice place to get a beer and a cigar.

Thanks for the info Pedro. I don't know exactly where i will be staying yet but it will be in the east, so ill deffo check out the Nashville bar. By the way I am looking to bring back a couple of boxes of havanas. How much is say a box of cohiba robustos or partagas d4 likely to set me back from an authentic chinese store?

Hey Rollzst, do a search on Nino's site http://www.flyingcigar.de/ I think he might have a report or two from his trips to China, possibly even Beijing?

They can be quite pricey since cigars, especially cohibas, has always been a status good rather than something to smoke and relax with. A Cohiba Robusto can be 400~500 pound a box on average in a store.

Rollzst, even if they're too expensive to buy over there, bring a couple of your own with you and at the least possibly enjoy a smoke in one of the cities cigar lounges (although you may have to pay some sort of clipping charge for bringing your own?)
