    Cuevas Hermanos.
Take a Tour of our Cigar Factory in The Dominican Republic......... .
TamborilCigar connoisseurs the world over will argue about which cigar brand is better, which country produces the best cigars or even the best way to keep your favorite cigar brand (the best humidor) - - but one thing is for certain. There is nothing like a fine cigar, and there is no substitute for quality.

    .
We at the Los Maestros cigar company would like to invite you on a quick tour of our facility in the beautiful mountains of Tamboril - the heart of cigar country in the Dominican Republic. We also want you to meet some of our people. After all, in a world of mass production, a good cigar remains one of the true products that is crafted by hand for the customer. It is one of the few things in life you can enjoy knowing a human being made something with pride for you alone. Our master rollers come from three generations of cigar craftsmen. They do not make a cigar to please a magazine editor or even a cigar store distrubutor. They make a cigar to please you, our customer. Please come vist us & meet some of the people that make our product special......

Thanks G-man. Any tips on how to spot a fake for the unsuspecting tourist. My trusty amigo is of the non smoking persuasion so, despite his kind offer to pick some up for me, don't want him buying me some. Thanks crap

Personally, I wouldn't even bother, mate! The Dominican Republic, like all tourist traps, take advantage of the unsuspecting tourist. Unless your friend goes to one of the major factories, he will end up buying fakes, especially since he has no cigar knowledge.

There is a law there that requires the factories to produce the majority of cigars for export only. So, expect to pay a premium when buying cigars in the Dominican.

Thanks jdawg. Spoken to a couple of people today who agree with you. Think I'll take some time over G-mans info, do some more research and check around for prices.
Still intend sampling some of what they have to offer, no point sticking to one or two brands when there's so much out there to choose from. Good excuse and who knows I might find something I like.
              Thanks again.

This is 100% exact. Actually Dom Rep. is probably the last place on Earth where I'd buy cigars…
                Buy some rum instead!

Unless your friend travels into the compound known as Casa De Campo your screwed.CDC has a nice little shop of Cubans close to the golf course.Once you leave there you might find some Boli tubos kept in the open air market in La Romana that were probably dry as dirt. The gang is right you wont find a Fuente to save your life there.

Thanks for all your replies guys. Having sifted through them I've noted that the posts saying roughly this, "don't even dream about buying any over there" seem to have edged the voting by around 100% or thereby.
I appreciate all the info. Good points, well made plus the added bonus of G-mans extra info.
                    Thanks again.
