  • Opus X Vs Fuente

    Hi Guys

My knowledge of NC is very limited, I have tried a couple of Opus x before and must say I loved them, looking into getting some more at some point.

However I have also seen the Fuente Branded cigars, I know these are all made in the same factories or at least it's the same brand I was just wondering how they compare to the Opus X.

The Fuente brand seems to be significantly cheaper and more available that the Opus X range, is there a major difference in how they taste or smoke?

looking for a few reviews or pointers

    Cheers

    L

only ever had one non opus fuente (cant remember the name) and thought it was fairly similar to the opus range.

I dont really rate the opus x brand to highly. its not a bad smoke but also far from great. more strength than flavour for my palate. Think its more hype than quality for this one.

    any one agree???

For the money the Opus is highly rated cigar. and there are better everyday cigars in his line for less coins. The Fuente Sun Grown and King B IMHO are a much better cigar dollar for dollar. The price point is about 1/2 if not less then an OpusX. The one thing about A.Fuente's cigars is if you were to smoke 1 today and another from a totally different box 2 years from now the taste would be like the first 1 or very similar.
      hope this helps My .02

It all comes down to personal tastes but the Opus X did not ring my bell. I much prefer the Anejo line for the same or slightly less coin. Better all around smoke for me. I also like the Hemingway line, haven't tried the Don Carlos or Sun Grown (old or new). But for the life of me I can't find a cigar in the regular Fuente line that does anything for me. I think they are just a bit on the mild side for my liking.

        But have fun exploring!
Trying is the first step toward failure.

          A Solid Stogie

          A. Fuente has a very large line of fine n/c stogies. In addition to those mentioned above, other good ones include the A. Fuente 858 line (under 100 claims/box), the limited production Rosado Gran Reserve, and the Don Carlos and Hemingway series.

Also, if you like the Opus X, try the Anejo, which I'm told is the same stogie with a different wrapper.

The Fuente line is a favourite of mine.

I enjoyed the Opus X, because I like strong in your face smokes. This is probably the strongest cigar I have smoked.

However, I do prefer the Anejo line. I was gifted an Anejo Shark from kingcohiba and it was one of the best smokes I have had in my life.

Both the Anejo and Opus X lines are costly smokes. If I were to choose between the two, I would go with the Anejo line.

Fuente's do have lower cost cigars that are also great smokes. The 858 line mentioned before are an excellent choice for the money.

Can't go wrong with a Fuente!!!

Way over hyped and overpriced.A good cigar yes but not worth the coin.

As others have said, consistency is Fuente's claim to fame. They do make some tasty cigars that wont break the bank.

There was a time in the late 1990's when some people would have walked over hot coals to get hold of a box of Opus X - gave new meaning to limited edition. It was the 'must have' smoke of its day.
That said it is still a top cigar - so if you have never tried it get hold of at least one.
I'm sure there are greater things in life than a fine cigar ........... but right now I can't think what they might be.

                            i love the fuente hemingway's!
the short story is one of my go to smokes.
the anejo sharks are always a pleasure to smoke.
the opus forbidden is fantastic, but my favorite opus is the scorpion. it just does me right!
