  • Grand National Sweepstake

Don't know if this is feasible or if anyone would be interested but we could have a grand national sweepstake, names of horses drawn out of a hat for each participant. A winner takes all and if no one (due to amount of entrants) gets first place then the highest placed nag wins. Say 2 cigar entry for 2 nags. Each participant would be responsible to mail there cigar(s) to the winner. Any person unfortunately to have a non runner on the day would be allocated a spare horse, if any or would not be required to send a cigar to the winner if no spare horse available. Cut off to be the thursday evening ,i believe the 7th of April as the field would be announced the following day.

If enough interest i'd be willing to do the draw for the nags and post up who has what on the Friday evening.
    What do you think?

And any cigars are valid as entry(apart from the obvious hamlets and dog rockets).

Don't know what it is, its part of British culture. A 3 1/2 mile horse race, with 40 runners over some of the biggest jumps a horse will see, 30 fences, 2 laps and anything could win. My Dad actually put a bet on Foinavon in the sixties cos he got it in a sweepstake and it won at 100/1. He won some canny wonger that day.

Sounds good to me. As you say National is a lottery anyway, so why not.
Put me down for it. Thanks.

Why wait until the Grand National when the best race of the season is this week... after all, the Gold Cup's on Friday.

You can tell it's nearing, Gloucestershire's been filled up with everyone from Ireland...
