  • FECKING VISTA!

The fact Microsoft couldn't even get the networking right is mind boggling. It won't even connect to my wireless network, even though my Windows 7 lappy, and my wife's, connects no problems. Now the decision...XP or 7? lmao

I have de-engineered both lappys from Vista to XP!

Not much price difference between 7 and XP on ebuyer. May go for 7 as the homegroup and device sharing is pretty handy. Then I'd need to upgrade hardware too...dammit

Just remember that not all hardware vendors have drivers for 7 yet......

7 is hardly different to Vista. I find it odd that it would be Vista that was causing problems connecting to your home network, but then again, nothing surprises me.

I though that too Dean, but having done some research it seems Vista does have issues with wireless networking, especially on Sky/Netgear routers.

One day, when I have my own house, I'm installing a wired LAN

And sorry, for the wrong section-post. Wasn't really looking for help as such (though any help is appreciated), was more just a rant

I think there's another thread on this, but Windows 7 is vastly superior to Vista--it has a smaller footprint, is relatively bug-free, and is not a resource hog. XP was nice as far as it went, but I much prefer 7 visually and in terms of what it offers. I have 7 on two machines now and a macbook. I don't see any superiority of the mac over my pc's other than the aesthics of the macbook's case. Actually, I find macs kind of annoying in terms of how hard it is to modify the programs to suit your needs.

I can't put my finger on why I love windows 7...but I really do love it! And it would be an excuse to upgrade my desktop too...

Hey, if it's any consolation, all OSs have their issues. I spent nearly an hour earlier getting an O2 mobile broadband dongle to work in Ubuntu...

Aint that the truth, I spend most of my day on AIX, HP/UX & Solaris and there not much better.
