    A jam with three mates.

Was given several tracks by a mate who recorded a jam session in a pub in Sevenoaks over a year ago. Slow bastard to hand over. I'm going to freeze his hand-made cigars for this delay.

Sounds really great, and tastefully done sir.

The Rifleman in Sevenoaks? Is Phil still the landlord?

You should get a gig in the White Horse in Cranbrook too... that was my old local and I used to love popping down on music nights. Phil was the landlord there before he went to the Rifleman.

      Thank you, kind Sir.

The landlord's an Andy now and he is MAD about live music. It's a little place where they appreciate live musicianship. I know folk who have been to the Cranbrook place.

Kent is not bad at all for live music.

If you are ever down from the Midlands, mate, please let me know.

Do you know any other lags down here in the general Kent muso felch from times past?

I'm afraid I've never been massively involved in any local music scenes. I've been with my band for 8 years now and before that I was touring with anyone that would pay me so I've missed out a lot on the "proper" music front!

I like to go into a bar and listen to good live music, but I never really get involved.

I dig this version of Crazy. Good song.

When my band imploded I made it a habit of going out to listen to new young bands that were just putting their shit together around Pittsburgh. That was when you could still smoke in clubs. I would enjoy a good cigar and sometimes some good music. I found some really cool original bands that way. Since my baby daughter though, it's been a while for me. Well that and the smoking ban keeps me from venturing out to hear new music anymore.

Joe - Silly question, but do many Americans smoke cigars? We were led to believe that Cigar Aficionado and the 90s cigar boom meant that cigars had rocketed in popularity in the States.

I posted that track because my mate hadn't copied it for me for over a year. More than that, I am getting tooled up with better home writing kit and software, and it's got me thinking differently.

More than any of that. I can actually hear myself playing!!! I realise how loudly our group plays, and how partial the monitoring is. Most gigs I cannot hear what I'm bv singing and it depresses me at times and wears me out to have to shout lines of singing.

I'm giving away trade secrets, so I'll stop.

Suffice to say that I'm knocked out to have something where there is a bit of space in the playing. Add to that that three of us hadn't met before jamming in public for the first time that night and it's OK. I love the bvs because I prefer quiet when playing and singing.

I'm staying put in my band, but this sort of thing makes me realise I've got to do something else with the music as well. I've got to write more, aim for a bit of depth, have fun, collaborate.

Joe - I had a necessary lull in playing when my boys were small, but they're bruisers now so I can do what I please - and they both love playing, recording and making videos.

In fact, you can see how students fuck about and get degrees and have fun all at the same time. My older boy is in this, and I am so pleased he's not trapped somewhere learning to be a right old 9 to 5 stiff for life yet. If he's clever, he'll escape that altogether.

Drew - I've perverted him on Chris Morris. It shows too much here lol.

I'm gald to hear you're itching to jump into new ideas with music becuase what I'm going to send to you in the next couple of weeks needs some fresh creative input. Looks like we're starting off on the same page my friend.

Well that's fantastic, mate, because I always want more. I'm rarely satisfied.

We were asked at a private gig last night to play some "slow blues", so did a couple of standard 12 bars really dirtily. Really straightforward for us, but we'd never done that in three years - and I fucking LOVED it!

I am a very restless person by nature, so need things to give variety. In fact I have some dep jobs coming up this week, as well as school concert obligations.

I've booked out for two hours to my cabin today to road test either my first Punch Punch, or my first Edmundo. It's like looking forward to sex one league down from real sex.

This week we have had a transexual brandishing his new false breasts post-op to us. We've had a punch-up between some particularly thick men in a Ramsgate boozer. We've had a past-it "hottie" (in her mind) goosing us all onstage and offering to seduce us.

Ladies and Gentlemen... For One Night Only... It's...
                THE MILF MAGNETS!!!!!

We get pissed off that this interrupts our playing!

To relax, I think I'll go for both new cigars today. My nerves are in local showbiz tatters!

Two more tracks recorded in the Tunbridge Wells pub.

It's me singing this at the landlord's request. And making bum notes.
I know it's not much, but it's the best I can do... in the circumstances lol.

                  Your Song

My mate Andy (guitarist) sings on this one.

                  Wish You Were Here

No more, you'll be relieved to know.

Great BVs on the chorus of Wish You were Here. Great song.

I agree. I was struck by the BVs immediately as I listened to these on the drive back from Birchington to Walmer.

These recordings have really cheered me up.
