View Full Version : Your Stick Pic Competition - Take 2

Robusto
07-04-2010, 10:01 PM
18 months or so ago, Deano ran a Your Stick Pic competition. The title is obvious. You had to submit a jpeg of yourself with a cigar on the go.

I won that competition - aye thang yew! - back then with this stunna:

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/elton1984/D4%20Apr09%20No%20redundancy/Picture0534.jpg?t=1270675869

Sorry... With this snap...

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/elton1984/Petit%20Edmundo%20Cowboy%20Mar09/ABCD0020.jpg?t=1270676232

Er... No... With this...

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/elton1984/ABCD0013-15-2.jpg?t=1270676797

I like mucking about with cigar snaps a lot and hope that now we have more members than at the time of the last competition that more people might wish to take part.

I have enjoyed recently - in different ways - Trevor's Machine Gun snap and Lee Nub's monument Nub snaps. I have enjoyed Nic Wing's white leather build up but he should have made an appearance on that leather. I like Simongriffffffith's confident cigar cloud avatar... and there are others if I think about it... but I'm in a rush...

Here's the deal.

I shall let this competiton run for two weeks from tomorrow.

I shall be the sole judge. The judgemaster in chief. The Kodak big shuffler. It's down to me.

Entrants are allowed to submit up to three different jpegs over time.

Pictures of dogs with a cigar sticking out of their arses, or playing about with cigars and eels, will not count because this is... ALL ABOUT YOU.

Entries may be funny or serious but you must not employ an imposter to be you in this competition. You have to swear that the cigar you really is you.

You must not pretend to be Tori Amos or Rock Hudson. You must be being you.

I will shuffle to one side a couple of Robustos as a symbolic token of love for the first and second ranked entrants.

Please play. Don't be self-conscious. It could be a laugh. :biggrin1:

And as Uber Judge, I stand aside from the competition - naturellement - and simply look on.

Well, I'll definitely give this a go...

Are props permitted? I'd quite like to give the Panama hat an airing if the sun is out. :849:

Now, whether to enter my current avatar... I think so!

Here we go then. It cuts down my options, but I'm sure I can come up with a reasonable couple to complement this:

From my dinner dance thing when I finished sixth form, very pleasant memories from this night.

I'll add a new pic (complete with hat :849:) but these are just incase I forget to before the deadline ends!

And admit it everyone, you all thought I was white :p I belong to another forum too and nobody would believe that I was Indian for some reason...

Edit: 2 more pics to fill the 3 allowable quota.

You have a valid point

In certain areas of Leicester, I play a little game called Spot the Whitey :der:

I've lived in so many places in the UK and Leicester has to be my favourite so far. Wales is much more beautiful and has friendlier people, Boston was a cheap place to live, but in Leicester, you can find people from so many different walks of life, all living together and getting along quite well.

Its like a likeable mini version of London :hail:

More great snaps!

You've a look of that nice Nic Wing in his own domestic smoke shack, Mr 68Tri.

Do we form a cigar smoker physical 'type' on here?
I mean thiose of us who aren't adolescents?

I'm just sitting here picking the breakfast toast crumbs from between my teeth before I start a thoroughly boring paperwork work-related task. I don't know whether to smoke a Cuban monster during this job, or to wait til afterwards. I'm in shorts as we're supposed to get up to 18 degrees today. So St Tropez.

I think I will smoke myself senseless throughout to avoid falling catatonic.

I've seen my neighbours and they have tree surgeons in. They are turning 60 so have decided to go "low maintenance" and are having a number of established trees cut down. This is very sad all round. It makes me think something has clicked on in their heads which is telling them they must prepare to die soon. They are only 60, for fuck's sake!!!

Anyway... The removal of a couple of these trees has revealed my smoke shack a bit so now when I lope off down the garden for a tangy one, my neighbours might see me sitting there smoking incongruously. Sometimes I'm down there for a large one just after sunrise of a weekend and now I might be able to see their near-death masks staring at me weirdly over the wall.

Not quite sure what to do about this. May lob in a snap later.

Apologies. I'm on a break from work and just don't feel like frying the Ofsted statistical omelette. :(

Here's just 3 from a rather large collection, so this wasn't easy.
1) 'Time gentlemen please!' Last gasp smoke before the ban in England. A RG Slenderella in the Soho C.d.H.
2) Dippy No 2, with the morning papers inside my local cafe, Antwerp.
3) End of the fishing season, ERDM Demi Tasse 1990.

It is Jesus I tell you. On that night I was drinking with the religious trilogy. Lascaux was Jesus, Jimmeh was Buddha (well if the chubby funster took his shirt off anyway) and our friend from Teddington did a passable impression of Mohammed.

Very graciously gifted at that cost...

I have to say, I'd expect a more even burn for that sort of price... :bolt:

There are several brothers I am close with that are serious collectors.
To put it mildly, their collections to me are like museums.
Just fascinating.

TIME OUT!

YOU WERE ALL MARVELLOUS, AND I THANK YOU ALL...

THE STANDARD OF THE COMPETITION WAS FAR HAVANA-HIGHER, FAR MORE BUTT-BUSTING THAN ONE MIGHT EVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE...

ALAS - THERE CAN ONLY BE TWO CHOSEN FOR GLORY.

AND IF THEY PM ME THEIR ABODES AND POSTCODES, I WILL LOB A CASTELLA OVER SOME TIME NEXT SEASON.

I FOUND IT IMPOSSIBLE TO WORK OUT WHO WOULD BE FIRST AND WHO WOULD BE SECOND, SO MY PERSONAL CHOICES - BASED ON WHO, TO ME, SEEMED TO BE ENJOYING THEIR CIGARS THE MOST - AND ALSO NOT A LITTLE INDULGENTLY - ARE:

JOINT WINNER - PANDYBOY

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/elton1984/pandyboy.jpg?t=1272102631

JOINT WINNER - SIMON GRRRRIFFFFTTHSRR
