Too damn many blokes, not enough skirts.

        General comments:

        1. What's your band's name?
        2. Your sax player has some sweet licks.
        3. Your solo rawked!

My lovely wife has a morbid fascination (obsession?) with Elizabethan England. One of our future vacations WILL be to the UK where she will be sadly disappointed that you don't all walk around in greatcoats and hoop skirts any longer. Nonetheless, we will be visiting your island, I'd say... within the next 5 years.

I would be absolutely delighted to meet some of you funny-talking chaps and would be particularly interested in going to one of your gigs, Robusto. So, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you kindly post your band's performance schedule for the next 60 months or so.

        TYVM.

          Well done, Rok!

Too damn many blokes, not enough skirts.

          Collect 1,000,000 points!

When I saw the clips taken on that day, I was astounded at how male the 'audience' in that pub was. Don't get me wrong. We often attract 50/50, and a good number of good looking ladies...

I was astounded, though, at the 'beer culture' of that pub on Christmas Eve.

Here's a bit of me... Shh...

I hate crowded pub gigs. We were playing, as Dale noted, as sardines - and the volume created between us when playing under a low roof in a small space was infernal. This isn't art! This is whipping yourself.

I was as full of flu as I've ever been on that day. I think I resorted to lighting up a killer Punch a few days later and it completely cleared my sinuses. But I was ill, and that's why I looked so fucking miserable.

When I looked up, I thought I was playing in a gay club. Don't misunderstand me. However stupidly I go on on this site about Brokeback Chic, I really seriously do not have any issues with gay clubs, gay culture, whatever, but it did seem odd in this masculine beery world.

But, Rok - That's the UK for you predominantly... Leary blokes pissed up on booze!

I have listed our gigs for this year so far on our website here. (My group is called EK1. I've gone on a bit about it on here so didn't want to over-do it).

Phil (sax) is a great friend and an AWESOME sax player.
My solo is predominantly shit, and I miss Phil's cue. I can do way better than that!

Rok - My sister is an American. I feel I have the Wild West in my veins as I love Texas - New Mexico - Mexico. I sort of live in Tumbleweed Connection (Elton John and Bernie Taupin) and The Band Music From Big Pink in my skull most days. If you do come over, it would be a real pleasure to meet you. And we'll have you both up to do a turn.

We play bigger places with a less bloke-ish feel.

I needed something to do alongside this work because I get bored / depressed in bands - even a great one like this. Repetition can set in, and onstage sound (monitors or no monitors) can be deafening.

Next month I start working with another local professional musician in a "proper" studio with a view to write some stuff to propose to a (small-ish but very royalty-rich) name with whom the other player has contacts.

I also adore playing by ear stuff that is on-the-spot and unrehearsed, and I can do it better than to knock out a wanker's attempt at Jingle Bells, as in that clip.

Our gigs are on the EK1 website here, but feel free to look around, watch, listen.

We're not bad for local boys having fun.
