  • Three new acquisitions.

Over the past few days I have made some acquisitions that all turned out to be either bargains or just plain unexpected.

I got talking to a guy on another forum, a non-cigar forum, and he told me he was moving flats and downsizing. He was generously giving away some things he no longer wanted. He was giving away his old laptop (third hand anyway) and various other items. Amongst the junk was a box (partial) of cigars. At the last minute he decided that he would sell the cigars rather than give them away. It turned out to be an '05 cabinet of Cohiba Siglo II, ten left in the box. He knew nothing about cigars and so had not kept them properly humified but had made some attempt. He asked for thirty quid for them but when I suggested they may be too dry to save then we settled on twenty pounds for the ten. I half suspected they would turn out to be fakes but for that much it was worth a gamble.

I collected them on Saturday, in the cabinet with the yellow ribbon, cedar, etc. The box and contents looked kosher. The cigars looked and smelt great but did feel a little dry. I gave him the twenty pounds and returned to my cigar at Casa in Wardour Street, Soho. I popped them in humi bags, five in each. They are now resting in my pelican case that I use to re-humidify cigars.

The second acquisition was through the clearance of a cellar at one of the gentleman's clubs in London. I grabbed three bottles of port for PEANUTS and they have some years on the bottles. Yummy, ready to drink in about ten years I think.

Finally, in the post today turned up ten CAO CX2 Belicoso from a fellow forum member in the States. This is the only one of the CX, LX, MX range that I think is any good and I do rather enjoy them. We had talked about a split but I had dropped the topic due to funds limitation. Out of the blue they turned up today, thanks, you know who you are.

      Nice stuff there Big T

It looks like a few of the cigars (far left) may have foot damage, so be very careful humidifying them. May pay you to make a small tube out of cedar sheet and place it around the foot to help stop them splaying...like a short piece of Cedros De Luxe cedar?

Wow!!! Christmas has certainly come early for you. Cohibas don't look too bad, though will need some time to re-humidify I suspect.

I didn't know you kept kosher

Nice looking scores there Trev. I might start following you around if you keep getting deals like this. The CX2 is a nice smoke since I'm a sucker for Cameroon wrappers. Throw a Cameroon binder in there and it's all good! Enjoy!

Foot damage to one, slight foot damage to another, but just outer leaf, really no biggy at all. I have re-humidified many cigar and these are not that dry so not concerned I need to be overly careful, but cheers.

When I finally get a box of Montecristo Sublimes for under a hundred quid, that is when.
