  • Hi all!

    Evening.
I'm very new to decent cigars. I'd had the odd Hamlet or Classic over the years and never enjoyed them, and assumed all cigars were like that.
Recently, a friend had been away on holiday and brought me home a couple of Cubans. Being the kind of person I am, I was desperate to know which ones they were.
After much reading and learning, I discovered they were a Cohiba Siglo V and Montecristo No. 2. The research I have done indicates to me they are real, which is reassuring! I've not smoked those two yet but recently bought a Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill, which was the first Cuban I've smoked. The difference between that and my past cigar experiences was astounding. Since then I've been to my local cigar shop and got myself a couple of petit coronas to try too.
I'm also liking the DIY aspect of people's homemade humidors I've seen, and am in the process of building myself a small one. The amount of research I've done recently into silica gel has gone above and beyond!

    So my journey begins...

          Hello!

I've just recently joined too and the R&J Short Churchill was my second cigar - very nice indeed!

              Hi Daverave...welcome aboard.

In some ways I envy you just starting off with quality cigar smoking...nothing like the joy of discovery! A lot of the guys here are very experienced in the ways of the leaf, and they are also happy to share their learning, which they wear lightly. It's one reason I like this place so much.

              Cheers,

              Wildwood

Thank for you the kind welcome folks.

I posted a couple of pictures of my mega-budget humidor experiment in my gallery last night if anyone's interested. Don't laugh!

Looks like a worthy experiment, mate.
But don't trust me. I'm zero as a technician!
I think I've smoked some Doncellas way back, btw!
