Two birds one stone

A nice parcel dropped onto my hallway mat this morning, a selection of pike flies and a couple of SC El Principes'. Another kind offering from Simon Bolivar, I've already caught trout on some of his home tied smaller flies so I'll give the pike flies a dipping this autumn. The SC's are a perfect pocket sized smoke for keeping in old tubes in the fishing vest. Very thoughtful and much appreciated, many thanks.

Well Eggy .... SM got a set of fishing flies from Simon PLUS a couple of stogies to smoke while using them ..... I call that 'friendly'!

Nearly missed this thread, just opened it coz I reconized Spacemonkey's moniker. Had sent these on my way to the rig & completely forgotten about them. Anyway, Glad you appreciate the flies mate; surprised & glad to hear you caught something on those old trout flies I sent, they certianly wouldn't have caught anything stuffed in my drawer. Just make sure you don't catch a bigger pike than my PB on the Pike Flies For those of you who have never seen (or heard) of a pike fly, I'll attach a couple of shots. These are between 8 & 3 inches long, were hand tied in the US of A & have caught some mighty fish over that side of the pond.
As for the El Priciples, good little fishing smoke with a coffee, waiting for the evening hatch

Cheers Simon. The flies are definitely 'chuck and duck' tackle. I sat watching two 3-4lb pike cruising a cut-off low water pool of my local river this afternoon. Had 2 small chub and a roach on #4wt fly rod from river, would have been a perfect afternoon if I'd remember to take a cigar
