  • Knowing what you know now...

Knowing what you know now, if you could relive your high school years what career path would you have chosen?

Something different, but thought it more fun.

For me I think I would probably have worked towards a career in the Royal Navy, with an overall future aim of one day commanding a navy vessel by the time I reach my 40s.

I was getting ready for a career in Special effects, mainly monster creation and prosthetic makeup effects. My dad wouldn't allow me onto the art scholarship I was offered, which was my rung up into the industry, instead I had to further my education. At least I still have my creations at home.

Other than that, I really fancied a career in Law or currency trading

That's difficult. I had no idea what I wanted to do and still don't.

I am sure I wouldn't have chosen this path but would have been quite keen on the cash that has gone with it!

I constantly dream about easier paths with less money and less prospects but A LOT LESS STRESS!

Bin man is one of my favourites. Smelly but the money isn't too bad and I would have a lot smaller beer gut with all that exercise!

I've had a great go at life. Many different careers and all what I enjoyed doing.
So for me maybe apply more and have a suite and tie job or inventor.

If I could do it all again I'd make sure I was a stockbroker/financier or somesuch to get me as much disposable income as possible for Cubans, and not wasted 7 years making video games.

I wouldnt change a thing, its what we were thats made us what we are today, i was going to be an Anglican priest but because i lost my faith i chose the army. I dont regret the decisions ive made, but if it were mine to change i might have changed the path.

R0lan6, forget about the RN, we wont have any ships left at this rate. Plus they don't tell you as a junior warfare officer you spend about 10 years continuously at sea, being treated like $h!t, for that command job of 18 months or so.

Personally i wish i had learned a trade, the idea of being a locksmith appeals to me.

I think I would have liked to write or do something in films. Not acting but something behind the scenes. Still I can retire at 55 so still plenty of time to work after that.

I must admit, I'd do the same as I'm doing now. Which can't be bad!

I watch some young 'uns driving around in R8's etc and think "Hmmm...drug dealing seems to pay well!".
other than that, a record producer. I applied to EMI in the seventies but didn't keep pushing. My one big regret. I might have met any of the Beatles, kate Bush (sigh), Pink Floyd, er The Pistols!
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Yeah I know, but thats the whole point. I just love the commitment and patriotic dedication that seems to be arguably lacking in the city. Focus not derived from money but through pride and appreciation to your country and to global protection. I'm always proud of our armed forces, both at home and abroad.

i would have liked to have gone into teaching - but i've always enjoyed the jobs i've had and to an extent i think you kind of end up working at what you're good at.
but teaching or a porn star - yeah!

Something a bit more physical or more outdoors.

Carpenter, plumber or landscape gardener maybe.

But really .... most of all .... playing football.
